    Review The Fly (1958)

Great film! Did you catch the reference to "flat screen" in 1958?!?

    Review The Fly II (1988)

I never saw this one so I can't comment - other than to say, based on the trailer, it seems to have some similarities to the 1959 sequel Return of the Fly.

    Review The Fly (1986)

To be honest, I generally hate the films of David Cronenberg. I go to a science fiction marathon every year and have been forced to sit through the following films of his and hated them all: Videodrome (1983) Naked Lunch (1991) eXistenZ (1999) That said however, The Fly (1986) is by far the...

    Review The Time Machine (1960)

The 1960 version is a great movie. I haven't seen the 2002 remake.

    Review Damnation Alley (1977)

I was poking around on my computer and found the "Hell" Tanner bits that reminded me of "Snake" Plissken in Escape from New York: "Have a seat," he said to Tanner, and to the others, "Wait outside." "You know this guy's dangerous, Mr. Denton," said the man with the pistol as Tanner seated...

Review The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957)

It's an excellent movie that still holds up today.

    Review Brainstorm (1983)

I saw a special theatrical version of this. The real world sequences (most of the film) were in 35mm. But when the film switched to a virtual reality sequence, suddenly it was in 70mm. As Cliff Robertson says in the movie, "You knocked my socks off!"

    Review They Live (1988)

    I own it on DVD.

    Review The Thing (2011)

Not as good as Carpenter's version, but both respectful and respectable. It even adds a nice touch to the mythos.

    Fun Your Favourite Films?

A critical hit, but a financial failure. Box Office Mojoshows a $35.6 million gross on a $50 million budget.

Review War of the Worlds (2005)

I actually wrote a review of this movie on that other site: War of the Worlds (2005) See it on the big screen, preferably as a matinée 28 July 2005 - 1 out of 2 users found this review helpful. *** This review contains spoilers. Reader discretion is advised. *** I finally got around to seeing...

    Review Forbidden Planet (1956)

Actually, at one point JMS of Babylon 5 fame wrote a script for a Forbidden Planet remake. I would have like to have seen it. But apparently the project isn't moving forward.

    Review Seaquest DSV (1993)

To be honest, I caught a couple episodes of this show over the years, but never really watched it. But watching the opening title sequences, I have the following thoughts: It's a good thing that Royce D. Applegate used his middle initial, to distinguish himself from all the other Royce...

    Review Moon Zero Two (1969)

It's been years since I've seen it. The scene I found the most memorable was the one where they get overheated and Catherina Von Schell (AKA Catherine Schell) strips down to her moon skivvies.

    Review Invaders from Mars (1953)

Yes, I'd say it's a minor classic. One year they screened this at the science fiction marathon I attend. And now when any character in any movie acts strangely, the audience shouts out, "Check his neck!"

    Review Damnation Alley (1977)

I haven't seen this film in years, but from what I remember, I agree your statements. I read the original novel more recently, and it was good. I was particularly struck that "Hell" Tanner seemed to be the model for "Snake" Plissken in Escape from New York.
