Fun What TV Shows Are You Watching/Rewatching at the Moment?

How they got away with some of this on primetime tv is a mystery.

Fun What TV Shows Are You Watching/Rewatching at the Moment?

I've mentioned this on the 70's forum, but worth doing again. Eric Chappell 's lesser known comedy before the genius that was Rising Damp. Set in the sort of office Chappell used to work in, and he drew heavily on those experiences. Senior executive Rex is too preoccupied with the England...

    Review BLAKE'S 7: ORAC - Episode 13

Alistair Lock does the Zen/Orac voices for Big Finish, and he's very good. Remarkably like Tuddenham. In fact this October a twelve episode series of the show will be released by Big Finish. Three box sets, not sure if they'll all come out at once, but looking forward to it immensely. Orac is a...

    Review BLAKE'S 7: DELIVERANCE - Episode 12

The actress Susan or Suzanne Farmer as she was sometimes credited, was in so many productions in the 60's and 70's, usually pretty good. Here her lines aren't the best, not her fault , but it spoils the episode somewhat . Genetic banks and brood units magically turning themselves into a race of...

Fun What TV Shows Are You Watching/Rewatching at the Moment?

Probably not the wisest thing to admit to enjoying this, but I watched about 300 episodes, stopped soon after the final confrontation between Bea Smith and Joan ' the freak ' Ferguson. I really must watch the last dozen or so episodes to see how it ended.

    Review All Thing THE SIMPSONS!

Any Simpsons fans? Just has to be right? If not I'll eat my shorts. The Simpsons even came up with the ludicrous scenario of Trump becoming President.

    Review BLAKE'S 7: PROJECT AVALON - Episode 09

Top episode, excellent in all respects. Travis and Servalan look on their faces when the prisoner is experimented on and dies is extremely telling. They almost look like they're getting an emotional kick out of it. I wonder if the troopers that survived Blake's attack to free Avalon worked it...

    Review BLAKE'S 7: BOUNTY - Episode 11

Spot on about Terry Nation Maloney stated that Nation had given himself this huge commission on writing all 13 episodes of series one, a mistake he didn't repeat, and wasn't interested that his scripts were too short, too long, or just didn't work. There was a lot of rewriting from the script...

    Review BLAKE'S 7: BREAKDOWN - Episode 10

Yes we could do with others reviewing these episodes with us, I love them all too, okay maybe not eps 23 or 29, but even they have something I like. Yes I believe Gan was a softie, and the limiter was shooting pain into his brain causing him to become violent. The limiter cuts in when he wanted...

    Review BLAKE'S 7: DUEL - Episode 08

This is an ok episode, as you say Blakes7 does Arena. Sinofar and Giroc could have been explained better, their powers are a bit too metaphysical and mysterious for me. Best scene was Travis being unnecessarily cruel to the mutoid, but we did learn about mutoids in general and how they come to...

    Review The New Statesman

Rik Mayall in full throttle as the right wing politician Alan B'Stard This is manically funny in places, it actually gets more outrageous as we go from season to season. The Conservative party under Thatcher were not amused by this depiction of a tory party member.

    Review The Squirrels

Philip Madoc appears in this one. The usual top script here, but I must mention Bernard Hepton. He is terrific in this show, later in his career he was excellent as Albert Foiret in BBC's wartime series Secret Army.

Review Please Sir / Fenn Street Gang

John Alderton was a big comedy star of this era and made his name in this teenage students versus teachers comedy.

    Controversial Mind Your Language

Written by Vince Powell, this like his previous show Love Thy Neighbour, mired in the controversy of being racist. Both shows are unlikely to be seen again on reruns, which is a pity, it's all a bit of fun. The ethnic actors in this lets laugh at foreigners trying to speak English comedy have...

    Review Keeping Up Appearances

Interesting comments guys, but isn't wanting to throw things at the telly or punching babies what Roy Clarke wanted? True Hyacinth is appalling but that's the paradoxical beauty of the show. Laugh at or with her or run away like Emmot next door screaming.

    Review I Didn't Know You Cared (1975)

A real acquired taste this, a very British comedy, set in Northern England, in Rugby League country, following the dysfunctional Brandon family Special praise for Robin Bailey playing Uncle Mort, a permanently morose embittered OAP , and Stephen Rea as Carter, the workshy grandson. Here the two...

    Review Keeping Up Appearances

This series passed me by originally but have been going through it and it has some very funny episodes. Patricia Rutledge and Clive Swift are excellent as are the the rest of the cast really. Written by Roy 'Summer Wine' Clarke, so the escapades are beautifully put together and I particularly...

    Controversial Trump

LATE NEWS ; TRUMP APPOINTS MAYFLY Today President Trump appointed a mayfly to the W.H. staff. Trump " This will bring much needed stability to the White House and I'm sure the mayfly will be a great asset throughout its 24 hour lifecycle" The Mayfly added " I bring a wealth of experience having...

    Review BLAKE'S 7: THE WEB - Episode 05

Yes, me too, I like this episode, this is where we really get going. I think the FX is good, I like the zombie look of Geela and Novara, and apart from some dodgy lip syncing when The Lost take over Geela and Jenna it's all good stuff. Initially Jenna was quite hostile toward Cally, and it...

Review THE FEATHERED SERPENT (1976) - with Pat Troughton)

Terrific series, the second is a bit more fantasy less historically possible, but still great. Patrick Troughton looks so cool in his costume and evil looking , you'd never believe he was the cute second Doctor. Shows what a fine actor he was. I think he'll have to be my next avatar, meantime...
