Review Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark

From the new album, Punishment of Luxury which reminds me of the really early album, Organization, a bit off beat.

    Review SKY (1975)

Children's Sci Fi series created by Classic Who writers Bob Baker and Dave Martin. Marc Harrison gives an eerie performance as the titular Sky, a time traveller, human or alien, it's not immediately clear which, who is stranded in1975 England, pursued by a future assassin seeks help from farm...

Review THE FEATHERED SERPENT (1976) - with Pat Troughton)

OMG!! At last on youtube. Now I can share this wonderful series with you guys. It's BRILLIANT. Patrick Troughton is amazing as the evil priest Nasca in this ancient Mexico drama. Two series of six episodes loosely based on the religious struggles that actually took place in ancient Mexico...

    Review Benson '79-'86

Spin off from Soap with Robert Guillaume as Benson, now working for a U.S.state governor. Inga Swenson as Kraus was excellent and a pretty funny show.

    Review BLAKE'S 7: CYGNUS ALPHA - Episode 03

Not an absolute favourite of mine. But it is a necessary episode as the Liberator is crewed. The sets are all good and Brian Blessed is excellent of course. We see early on that Avon is a total bastard , which is such a clever writing ' gimmick' because it almost guarantees people tuning in next...

    Review The Squirrels

More I watch this more I love it, Eric Chappell at his best as a writer. This comes close to being as good as Rising Damp. Bernard Hepton as J.F. is excellent, almost as memorable as that other initial renown character C.J. from Reggie Perrin.

Review Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads? (1973)

Jeez!! I must have been really ill , maybe suffering from amnesia, why haven't I mentioned this before ...er I forgot. This is is true masterpiece of comedy. A sequel to the 60's series The Likely Lads which is mostly wiped from the archives. James Bolam and Rodney Bewes in this Northern...

    Review Ever Decreasing Circles

This is a BBC comedy with Richard Briers and Penelope Wilton, later to find fame in NuWho. Briers stated that this was his best role on tv , better even than Tom Good in The Good Life. I'd never heard of EDC until about a year ago, but wow ! it's brilliant. In the last year I've seen all four...

    Review 1990 (1977)

Just finished this for a second time. It never let up in quality, if only it was greater known it might be considered an all time classic. For more 70's classic British gold, again I'll recommend The Sandbaggers, and I've recently put an episode guide on The Omega Factor thread.

Review Doctor In The House/ In Charge etc.

By the time we get to series 7 and 8 the show was Doctor on the Go, the characters Waring Stuart-Clarke and Loftus were the only ones who had been there from the start. This series saw John Kane, Tommy from Dr Who Planet of the Spiders, join the cast. Interestingly George Layton who played...

Review Doctor In The House/ In Charge etc.

Richard O'Sullivan from Man About The House appears in the two Doctor in Charge series only, as Laurence Bingham. A very good performance from O'Sullivan as Dr Waring's nemesis, the slimy creepy Bingham.

Review Man About The House (1973)

Well loved 70's sitcom with Richard O'Sullivan as Robin Tripp, an apprentice chef rooming with two girls, all living in a house owned by The Ropers, George and Mildred , later with their own show. Incredibly popular at the time as was O'Sullivan's next series, also as Robin in Robin's Nest...

    Review George and Mildred (1976)

Classic comedy from the 70's. This was a spin off series featuring George and Mildred Roper who first appeared in Man About The House. Excellent performances from Brian Murphy and Yootha Joyce. I think this holds up very well even today, and is really funny.

Review Doctor In The House/ In Charge etc.

During my teen years, Sunday early evening tv meant ITV's Doctor comedy series. Loosely based on Richard Gordon's books, we had Doctor in the House ( 2 series), then Doctor At Large, with some scripts written by John Cleese and Graham Chapman, then two series of Doctor in Charge, Doctor at Sea...
