If you, Brimfin and I can still choose a different show after Star Cops, whether the Brits would come along or not, then Star Cops would be an welcome change of pace. I'd go for it.
I believe that both Doc Omega and Michael are Brits...

I'm not.

Cloister 56- yes Moonbase 3 and Star Cops are pretty similar, both created by Dr Who writers of the era,Star Cops a sort of logical progression of the colonization of The Moon.
Mad Pac- you once called me a reformer! I hope you remember that as it shows I'm not being wise after the event.
The guys who set the rules for this group are long long since gone. You can relax the rules a bit to keep the group going.
Its no big deal to start a show and then stop, you aren't committed to 90 episodes of Survivors +Blakes7 if that is what we do , or even 9episodes of Star Cops. If you think it's crap you STOP! I've started and given up on.lots of shows. I would never say " that looks a good show but heck too long! " If it's good, longer the better, if it's rubbish STOP!
Back to Cloister 56 - what about The Omega Factor, I know you're a fan like me. Star Cops and Omega Factor. Wow.

I like the idea of THE OMEGA FACTOR...

And only 10 episodes. :emoji_wink:

It's very strange, I've been a Doctor Who fan since I was a kid but didn't really look into a lot of classic british scifi.
I think it was finally giving Blake's 7 a try that spurred me on.
Until I watched it I thought Sapphire and Steel was a romance series.
I've now worked my way through Survivors, Doomwatch, Omega Factor (which is awesome), Moonbase 3 and went back further to shows like Timeslip.
If you have any more suggestions of similar shows please let me know.

I recently finished up with DOCTOR WHO, as of the 2017 Christmas special. Any further viewing will be restricted to AN UNEARTHLY CHILD through to THE TIME OF THE DOCTOR. However, I doubt I'll venture much beyond DOCTOR WHO with Paul McGann.

I've always been a huge fan of SURVIVORS, BLAKE'S 7, UFO, DOOMWATCH, MOONBASE 3 and so on and so forth.

For further viewing, please consider...

RED DWARF.

SPACE 1999.

THE DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS (1981) - 6 part TV series. 3 hours total. Avoid all other versions.

THE HITCH-HIKERS GUIDE TO THE GALAXY (1981) - 6 part TV series. 3 hours total.

Anything to do with Professor Bernard Quatermass, especially the TV series from the 1950s - or what's left of them.

Also plenty of black and white British sci-fi films available on YouTube. In fact, most of the sci-fi from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s on YT is fairly enjoyable.

Have you tried Ace of Wands., from a similar stable to Timeslip with the coolest theme tune ever. Only series 3 exists in the archives but worth a try. A stage magician with hypnotic powers solves baffling cases.
I'd be surprised if you don't already know this; Patrick Troughton in The Feathered Serpent, not Sci fi but has a fantasy/mystical element to it, set in ancient Mexico, Troughton plays a Hepesh from Peladon like character, a scheming priest aiming to appease his God with blood blood and more blood-12 episodes.
Finally 1990- a series set in a dystopian future Britain where Big Brother is watching. Starring Edward " Callan/The Equalizer" Woodward as journalist fighting the fascistic government, the show has been described as 1984 plus 6.

Quatermass has been mentioned...

I would certainly recommend the 1979 Quatermass with John Mills...

A bleak, dystopian show....

and only 4 x 50 mins.....

It is also not necessary to have seen the earlier ones to enjoy that one....

Oh, I guess you are now.

I'm an Aussie.
Close enough! Hardy-har-har! :emoji_laughing:

No, seriously, my mention of Brits was mainly because of Michael Levinson, who was the last bastion of defense of the British culture while we were all in the same group. And I knew he had found other British TV aficionados. But I'm sorry if that seemed that was meant to apply to everybody involved.

OK, so are we considering other shows as well now? If we are, I suggest presenting each one's suggestions/nominations and we move on from that. When our little group was 100% active we had some defined criteria as to what shows we would or would not nominate, but now, of course, as we'd be starting things anew, I supposed new criteria would be adopted. I just would like to suggest the show to be reasonably short, otherwise only die-hard fans will make it to the end.

To save on duplication, would it be possible to know what has been viewed by "the group" so far?

A few British produced shows like UFO, Invasion Earth, but made for US audience. A British show made for British audiences would be a first!

Sorry @Mad-Pac I hijacked the thread asking for suggestions for more british scifi shows. (I'll definitely look up that 1990 never heard of that before.)
Probably best if we keep to some structure like you say or I imagine will we fill a forum full of musings and it makes the selection fairer.

At the risk of hijacking the thread further, yes 1990 is a disturbing series especially for a Brit. We see a Britain depicted as a very nasty State with thuggish police and re-education and torture centres.
I think it was Ant-Mac who wrote on the 1990 thread that he got a bit emotionally involved when seeing it, and he's an Aussie!!

Didn't mention the most famous or infamous Brit telefantasy show The Prisoner, though I expect you know about it.

Yes, I really got into watching 1990.

And of course, I'm a huge fan of Edward Woodward...

Ever since his CALLAN days. :emoji_relaxed:
