Whatever works for you. I've re-watched the new show much more than the old episodes. I find that for the classic series, the novelisations work better for me. That way I can imagine the stories with high quality special effects.
I remember the days when it was 46 episodes a year. Times change.
There was a period when we got 13 25 minute episodes a year. Be thankful for what we get. One episode a year is better than nothing.
Not sure who the first one is but there's no chance of the second. His name has been linked to the show since Matt Smith left but he's tied up with a major movie franchise that still has 3 movies left to go. So not enough time for him to do a series for at least 5 or 6 years now and by that...
Haven't seen those - will need to check them out.
And if I ever get motivated to write anything (that isn't complete crap) I'll make sure to post a link here.
Just re-reading my suggestions above and I'm realising why I'm enjoying series 11 so much. Chibnall has stolen many of my ideas. Minimalist music, multiple companions, stand alone stories. No big timey-wimey stuff and no god-like Doctor saving the universe every other episode.
I didn't mind that so much. It was simply a way to de-complicate the mythos for new viewers at the time and gave the Doctor some angst. I was less keen on the way it was undone, meaning 3 Doctors suffered believing they'd destroyed Gallifrey for no reason. I'd have preferred a solution where...
It was really only in the Moffatt era that the stories were Christmas themed - RTD's were generally set around Christmas but didn't really base the story much around it and even several of Moffatt's were only very loosely Christmas themed and wouldn't have to have been changed much to work at...
As I said on the other thread, I don't think any Doctor was miscast. Both 6 & 8 were poorly served by their scripts (and in 6's case, most of the production qualities) but both have gone on to prove they were well cast in the Big Finish audios. The only classic era Doctor I had any real struggle...
There's not one single Doctor that I think was miscast. Some have been poorly served by scripts, but everyone has brought something good to the role. The only one I had any struggle getting used to was Christopher Eccleston, who (for me) took a while to settle into the role. He probably wasn't...
The problem with The Last Action Hero is that it wasn't quite sure what it wanted to be. It was partly a meta-commentary on 80's action movies and partly pure 80's action movie. Combined with the fact that (as far as I remember) the marketing portrayed it as a pure action movie, so the...
I've just taken my kids on a viewing journey through Jaws, Jaws II and Jaws III. They all acknowledged that the quality had declined substantially by Jaws III. I've managed to convince them that Jaws IV is not worth watching.
That was to be expected really. The story was just a background to introducing the companions and the new Doctor. Their interactions were what made the episode good. And I liked that they developed Grace as a character so that
I really enjoyed that episode. Jodie was fantastic (as I predicted) and the story provided a great introduction to the new cast. And I was pleased that they didn't try to explain too much for new viewers in the first episode. No TARDIS and only a very vague explanation of the sonic screwdriver...
No reason the show can't use at least some of the bits from Big Finish in the show. They've used bits of Jubilee in Dalek and completely redid Human Nature from the novels. Each of those things exists in its own continuity so if there's a particularly good audio (and there are plenty of those)...
Wow! As a proud Aussie cricket fan, who loves to see New Zealand get smashed, even I feel sorry for Tuffey after that. I imagine by about half way through that over he was wishing he'd called in sick that morning.
I wondered that too. Especially given how JNT went on to make so many references and call backs to the past in the next couple of seasons. And he apparently approached both Elizabeth Sladen and Louise Jameson to come back as the companion when Tom Baker regenerated. So having a previous...
See I always presumed that Ian Chesterton was teaching science at the school but due to the Black Guardian's manipulation of events he was temporally switched with the Brigadier and when the school discovered he had no understanding of science they switched him to maths
I had enough fun with The Discontinuity Guide that I've developed the skill to be able to hammer everything into continuity. If it doesn't fit - just hit it harder :emoji_grinning:
