Review Once Upon A Time In The West (1968)

I remember that back in '70s, a couple of friends and I were looking to buy dusters similar to the ones worn by Cheyenne and his men, but we couldn't find them anywhere. Of course, now with the Internet, you can find them pretty easily.

    Review Blazing Saddles (1974)

I have an audio file of Madeline Kahn's "I'm So Tired" song on my audio devices, so it pops up every once in a while on shuffle play. Love it. And in the movie, all of the subtle little things she does while singing are just comedy gold!!!

Review Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid (1973)

I was listening to Dylan's Knockin' on Heaven's Door this morning. It prompted me to go to Youtube to watch this scene, which I think is one of the great "dying" scenes in cinema. Itis one of Pickens's great dramatic scenes, and Katy Jurado is magnificent. As usual, I had tears streaming down...

    Review Religion US vs. Europe.

Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez is the full character name from the Sergio Leone classic, Il Buono, Il Bruto, Il Cattivo, aka The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Good,_the_Bad_and_the_Ugly The role of Tuco was played brilliantly by Eli Wallach, who...

    Review Religion US vs. Europe.

LOL! I do tip my hat to the fairer gender, who also happen to be the tougher and more practical gender. Can't tell you how often in my younger days that my testosterone got me into trouble. Now that I'm an old man with testosterone levels barely above a whimper, life is so much more...

    Review Gilligan's Island (1964)

Oops, I thought we were talking about the Dick Van Dyke show. Now I go back and see that the thread started with Gilligan's Island. All right, I'll modify and say that Mr. Howell had a dungeon setup in a secret hut. The kinky stuff was beyond threesomes but eventually involved everybody.

    Review Gilligan's Island (1964)

Who's the third? Sally? Buddy? Alan Brady? I'm banking on a neighbor who has a dungeon setup in his basement. Kinky for the '60s, but hey, in fantasy, anything is possible.

    Review Batman Returns (1991)

I like the look of both of Burton's Batmans, but particularly enjoy the darkness of the second one, so no, it is not too dark for me. If he was actually dissed by the studio, then they were mistaken. Burton brought us a comic book Gotham for sure. I would have watched another Burton...

    Review Vatel (2000)

@Elessar unfortunately, I do not. I haven't seen it listed on any of the movie channels for years. I will say that I have the BluRay of it, although I had to order it from Amazon France, as it does not have a U.S. BluRay release.

    Fun Artist's Corner

I sketch in charcoal for a few hours, once every few years. I chastise myself for not doing it more, because I do enjoy it. But as to paints, I haven't touched those since college, some 40 years ago. How about you, @BradyBunchFan ? Do you spend a lot of time painting? What are some of your...

Review Il Buono, Il Brutto, Il Cattivo (The Good, The Ugly, and the Bad) (1966)

Gotta agree that Eli Wallach's performance was the acting straw that stirred this great movie. The interviews with the elderly Wallach that appear on the BluRay (I'm guessing that they are on the DVD as well) are essential viewing IMO.

    Review Vatel (2000)

Vatel -- Part Five **** SPOILERS **** DETAILS OF THE MOVIE FOLLOW **** Monsieur was popular with the people anyway as he was seen as affable and generous. Monsieur was known for his kindness to the poor as he would often hand out the gold to the poor during carriage rides and when he partied...

Vatel -- Part Four **** SPOILERS **** DETAILS OF THE MOVIE FOLLOW **** 5.Anne Montausier was a real person and was a married noble lady and was over 40 at the time and was the chaperone for some of the younger ladies at Court. I think the filmakers just used her name as there is nothing...

Vatel -- Part Three **** SPOILERS **** DETAILS OF THE MOVIE FOLLOW **** Originally posted by blountstmd on February 07, 2007 The previous post was excellent as it deals extensively with variances from Madame Sevigne's letter about VATEL and also costume errors, etc and some of the historical...

Vatel -- Part Two **** SPOILERS **** DETAILS OF THE MOVIE FOLLOW **** Originally posted at IMDB by Lutzqueen on January 30, 2007 I too have read Les Lettres and other sources--and the liberties in the film were extensive! Vatel DID commit suicide just as the extra fish from Dieppe arrived...

    Review Vatel (2000)

(I'm placing this thread here, although it's probably not the perfectly correct genre. It more likely belongs in a category like "period films", but there isn't yet such a thing yet, so . . . . ) ** Film Synopsis ** Vatel is based on a true story, which occurred during the reign...

    Fun The Birth of IMDF!

While I agree that it would be popular, and while I usually cast ratings at IMDB, I don't like it. The reason is that there is no general consensus about how people rate movies. For example, I always -- and I mean ALWAYS -- start the process by giving a movie a rating of "5". To me, that is...
