I think it must be my home computer, as here at work I don;t seem to have a problem. Specifically, my Chrome browser says the site's security certificate is not valid and won't let me past. Explorer gives me the same message, but will allow my to click through even though it gives me big red...

A Fistful of Yen (1977) This could very well be the most accurate, on-point, and just plain out-and-out funny parody ever put to film. Before Airplane!...before Top Secret!...before The Naked Gun...ZAZ created A Fistful of Yen as the centerpiece spoof of Enter the Dragon in 1977's The...

Ha. This might be my own personal blog, as much traffic as this website seems to get. It doesn't help that Chrome completely blocks this website as completely untrustworty, and Explorer blocks me three different ways until I can finally get through. In any event, I'll still post my thoughts...

Noriko's Dinner Table (2005) I really enjoyed the first hour of this film. I really, really, did not enjoy the remaining hour and a half. First off, as I watched this cold, I was not aware that Noriko's Dinner Table is somehow connected to Sion Sono's earlier Suicide Club, which I have not...

The Killer (1989) One of the movies that solidified John Woo and Yun-fat Chow as the main innovators of the "heroic bloodshed" HK action genre. And is there bloodshed? Oh, indeedy, yes. And moral ambiguity as an assassin contracted by the triad lives by a moral code that many would consider...

I love this movie! Very, very funny. I need to re-watch this ASAP. I hate this movie. Ki-duk KIM is a taste I never acquired.

Bichunmoo (2000) I'm totally biased becasue I LOVE the genre. Wuxia-style martial arts fantasy really trips my wires, so to speak. The bad news is that Koreans don't really excel at this genre. Certainly not like the Chinese. The good news is that Bichunmoo is about as Chinese as a Korean...

Transsiberian (2008) Ok, I guess this is an American (not "international") movie, but it is set almost exclusively in Siberia and one of the main actors is a Spaniard, and Ben Kingsley plays a Russian, so I guess I'll count it for inclusion here. The second act of this movie is awesome...

Secretly, Greatly (2013) Oh, good lord, no. Totally lame movie about super select spies in a DPRK elite squadron (only 1 in 20,000 qualify) sent to the ROK, only to act like retards with no mission, puropose, or objective. Ha Ha. Not. They are eventually told to commit suicide (WTF?) , and...

Strange Circus (2005) This DVD showed up in my mailbox this week. I never know what those red envelopes will be bringing because I've got so many movies I put in my queue months or years ago, and just now getting aound to. Even ones like Strange Circus, which must have been based on a...

I liked Running on Karma. I gave it 3 stars. It was hard to get over Andy Lau in the muscle suit but overall a pretty good movie. Fulltime Killer I rated 4 stars. Right in my wheelhouse, that one. This post brought to you by my bromance with Johnnie To LOL.

This is one of my all-time favorite comedies. If you liked the humor of Airplane! and The Naked Gun, you must watch this. I've seen it at least 10 times and it just never gets old.

Han Gong-ju (2013) I went into this completely cold. I knew nothing of the plot or circumstances of the film. I'm not going to give any major spoilers below, but will have to frame the discussion, so if you haven't seen it and want to go in blind (like I did, and very much recommend you...

From a while back: Oh my god, what a powerful movie. I'm going to need a day or so to process this one. It's an emotional punch in the gut. With something like this, it's hard to say I was "entertained," but I was moved. This affected me to the core. I'll give you my rating up front...

6ixtynin9 (1999) (Thailand) A cute and fun flick. I didn't find it as funny as y'all who recommended it, but the increasing absurdity of the situations kept me interested and entertained. And the lead girl was cute and I liked her style. I noticed a few continuity errors and I hated the...
