What are the Pillars made of & how is it that they are in a row?
They are made of gas and heavier compounds from earlier generations of stars and planets.

That's why it's a stellar nursery. Gravity works to bring the interstellar gas and heavier compounds together to form a new generation of stars and planets.

As for why they are lined up in a row, I couldn't really say. Perhaps it's simply an effect of the astronomical forces at work in that region of space. There would be quite a few immense gravitational fields competing against each other in that area.

It would certainly take more than a five year mission to explore, study and understand everything that's going on there. :emoji_relaxed:

They look like raw ginger root. I use fresh ginger root gratings in cooking.

All the cosmic info is interesting & you explain in a way that a 'layman' can
understand. Thanks...

Thank you, duzit.

Carl Sagan was an absolute genius at doing that sort of thing.

In this day and age, I find that the best one at it is Brian Cox. I believe that he was also heavily influenced by Sagan.

There really are plenty of films to choose from. And they don't have to be set entirely in Australia...
