I remember years back (I'm talking at least ten years here) I had to close down my first account on IMDb & start a new one because the drama got to be freaking RIDICULOUS. I called out this one moron for being false (I doubt "she" was even female, that's how phony that person was), & suddenly I'M the bad one for pointing it out. This person claimed to be in her early twenties, married, Irish, & pregnant. Had nearly everyone fooled... Then the "baby" was born, & "she" posted a link to a photo of some random baby. One night "she" & I were chatting, & "she" told me that she was involved w/ some teenaged idiot from the UK. I reamed her out for it, because after all, "she's" supposedly married w/ a new kid. So I put her on blast on the message boards, & everyone except this one other female sided w/ her & harassed the hell out of me. So, I had no choice but to close down that account & start a new one.

Hilarious part is that months to a year later, the same dumbass was spreading a different story on two other websites (Myspace & some goth meeting site, I believe), this time claiming that she was involved w/ a female, & that she was pregnant w/ her "first baby". The two of us were laughing a few weeks later, because "she" confirmed she was full of shit when she claimed that she had the baby, & posted the same damned photo of the random baby that she used on the IMDb boards before.

Anyway, that's just one example of the abject lunacy that those boards were full of... Anyone remember that idiot who would troll the boards to talk shit about whatever was popular at the moment (he also trolled the Soapbox board)? I remember haunting his dumb ass to post a link to an Encyclopedia Dramatica page that discussed the idiot in detail (along w/ some hilarious pictures). If I could remember his main screen name, I'd post the link for a few shits & giggles.

That "chick" sounds like a winner. Some folks just need attention, I guess.

The folks that really got me were the ones who would mainly post on one board, and would complain intensely about the movie/show/actor, and attack anyone who liked it/them. In particular, there were two women who used to haunt the board for The Big Bang Theory. Both of them absolutely hated Kaley Cuoco. They constantly made posts that consisted of little more than "what a whore" and "she's a slut", referring to both the actress and the character of Penny. If anyone started a thread about how hot she was, they instantly jumped on to rag on the actress and go on about how men are stupid because they like her.

Anyway, people started finally jumping them about their BS. A few pointed out that they obviously had nothing better to do than constantly be on the boards talking trash, to which they would turn it around on the poster, saying that they had nothing better to do, and go on with the name calling. I had been reminded of it in the final days of the boards, because a few folks were doing the exact same thing over on the board for The Flash.

And then there was the guy who asked me what age I was because I told him that if he didn't like a show, he could just, you know, change the channel. Um, yeah, I'm the immature, irrational one.

I have to say I'm not missing the constant "Marvel is for kiddies" "DC sux" on the various Marvel and DC threads. I'm always happy to discuss the relative merits and flaws of the movies or expanded universes but the constant insults to anyone posting a contrary view got old real fast.

I'm still not seeing the 'sync' selection. I'm using Google Chrome browser on a Linux operating system at home, but when I've opened my account on Firefox or Chrome under Windows elsewhere, it's still not showing up.

Surely it would have een more concerning if they had been closed down just before the premiere of that film? :emoji_wink:
I've been a member of imdb boards for two years before they decide to close the message boards,so after the release of the final chapter earlier in december in japan, with so much hate and bad words as this movie got from the fans,i think it's not a coincidence

A dispute over one single film would not have been a deciding factor in that issue.

I doubt it had any effect upon the final decision.

No, it's been a long time coming. I was a member for over ten years there, and what started out as a fun community for film and TV lovers to come to and discuss things, became little more than a breeding ground for trolls. You couldn't post something as simple as "Good Morning" without being labeled either misogynistic, racist or liberal. It was just a horrible place.
