I suppose the search for the centre of V'ger could have been... "condensed" a little. Imagine if ninety minutes had been reduced to sixty - and then the final thirty minutes was dedicated to a desperate duel between the Enterprise and those three Klingon spaceships and the rescue of the crew of that Federation monitoring station - because V'ger had restored them as a sign of good faith to its creators...The film is so brilliant through here! I feel ansty in my pantsy when they do that reveal. And after Spock gets aboard ship, it turns into an hour and a half of talking. I like my Trek to be cerebral, philosophical, and even talky, but there has to be some sort of action going on.
Of course, we know what action can bring...
Then we really could have seen what the newly refitted Enterprise could do...
