Third “Walking Dead” Series In The Works
AMC has announced that a third series based on Robert Kirkman’s “The Walking Dead” comics is in the works.
The series will reportedly center on two young female protagonists and focus on the first generation which has come-of-age during the apocalypse as we know it. Some will become heroes, others villains and all will be changed forever.
The series follows on from both the original mothership show “The Walking Dead” and the first spin-off “Fear the Walking Dead,” though it’s presently unclear how the new show will connect with them if at all.
Scott M. Gimple and Matt Negrete co-created the new series with Negrete to serve as showrunner. David Madden, President of Programming for AMC Networks and AMC Studios, says in the press release:
“We’re thrilled that the Dead will keep walking into a new corner of the post-apocalyptic world, a corner that will present stories and characters unlike any that The Walking Dead has dramatized thus far, and that is bound to excite one of the most passionate fanbases in television.”
The first season will consist of ten episodes and will begin filming this Summer in Virginia ahead of a 2020 premiere on AMC.
