If discovery is really set ten years before TOS then how come the Federation has holographic technology in this past era yet still sends messages through sub space in the next decade? Someone really hates Kirk and the best Spock at paramount/cbs I think! No mistake in my not capitalizing their names either! :emoji_angry:

I got chills at Nichelle's reaction to the son entering the room.... :emoji_scream:
My mum suffered from dementia during her last few years of life. As a result, she was prone to sudden and unexpected mood swings. Sometimes these involved sudden angry outbursts that seemed to come out of nowhere.

Early on in her decline, she rang me up one morning to chastise me for something. We had a lengthy conversation, solved the problem - whatever it might have been - and rang off. That afternoon, she rang back and we were back in square one. If I had ever entertained any doubts about her mental decline, they were removed that day.

That video clip is indeed disturbing, but speaking personally, I would like more evidence or information about the situation before I'd be willing to offer an opinion on the individuals involved.

Indeed. My wife's grandmother suffered with dementia for several years before passing this last year. While on the few visits we were able to get in, she was usually just docile, just sitting and not knowing where she was or who anybody was, she was in the care of my mother-in-law and sister-in-law, and we heard about the violent outbursts she would have (common with dementia), and a few incidents where she actually physically attacked my sister-in-law.

So I'm with ant-mac. I would need to see more evidence.

"Absent friends......"

In one of those spooky coincidences that I always read far too much into, that toast is coincidentally clinked by all of the current surviving cast in this scene....

Weird! Sounds like she was way out of control of herself depicting that illness but on the other hand you never know if the son is up to no good behind the scenes as well! Hard to call!

In her biography she is full of nothing but adoration for her son.

She mentions a story where she fainted at the studio and Shatner shut down production, then drove her home, carrying an unconscious Nichelle to her apartment. The son answered the door and started yelling "What have you done to my mother, you son of a bitch?!?"

Poor old Bill.

On top of all that, I have always thought that Nichelle had a diva like flair for the dramatic, such as the above fainting (not saying she faked it for certain, but you never know) and keeping the cast waiting when they were sat in transport waiting to go anywhere. (Jimmy Doohan said that they left her behind a few times until she got the message). Maybe that diva like flair for the dramatic is part of this.

As you say though, it's a hard call, JB, and one can read anything into a photo. So is that a cold hearted monster looking at her in the top one - or a caring son keeping a watchful eye on her?

But I can certainly see where Ant-Mac and CSM are coming from.
