A big song and dance about the aliens in the film - and we barely saw them in the finished product!
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of its release, the original theatrical cut of 1979’s “Star Trek: The Motion Picture” is coming back to the big screen for the first time with a two-day only nationwide U.S. re-release on September 15th & 18th via Fathom Events and Paramount Pictures.
Filmmaking legend Robert Wise (“The Sound of Music,” “The Andromeda Strain,” “The Haunting”) helmed the big-budget feature which remains one of the more ‘pure sci-fi’ serious space movies out there as subsequent films in the series veered into more action and comedy arenas. The film scored three Oscar nominations and became the fourth highest-grossing feature of its year of release.
Tickets will be made available beginning this Friday. The news comes as the other week producer David C. Fein revealed that discussions are officially underway with Paramount to bring the DVD-only and superior ‘Director’s Edition’ cut, first released in 2001, to both Blu-ray and 4K with a proper upgraded remaster.
How did that unauthorized civilian get onto Starfleet property?A goof....
One of the film crew on the left inadvertently caught on camera...........
Once seen, never forgotten... At least, that has been the case for me since they mentioned it on the commentary........ I had never spotted him before then.
