Bradley John Walsh (born 4 June 1960[1][2]) is an English actor, comedian, singer,[3] television presenter and former professional footballer, known for his roles as Danny Baldwin in Coronation Street and the lead role of DS Ronnie Brooks in Law & Order: UK, as well as hosting ITV game shows The Chase and Cash Trapped.

Walsh also hosts the annual Crime Thriller Awards and the Specsavers Crime Thriller Club on ITV3, he hosts the variety show Tonight at the London Palladium and is a team captain on the sports-themed panel show Play to the Whistle.

In October 2017, the BBC announced that Walsh had been cast as a companion in the eleventh series of Doctor Who which will broadcast in late 2018.

The Eighth Doctor (Paul McGann) and Twelfh Doctor (Peter Capaldi) compete for the affections of the same woman, Tricia, in this funny scene from Hotel! Tricia is played by Keeley Hawes who recently appeared opposite Capaldi's Doctor as Ms Delphox.

Sharon Delores Clarke MBE (born 12 August 1966 in Enfield, London), known professionally as Sharon D. Clarke, is an English actress and singer. Best known to television audiences for her role as Lola Griffin in the medical drama Holby City, Clarke has also played lead roles in many West End musicals, including originating the role of the Killer Queen in We Will Rock You and originating Oda Mae Brown in Ghost the Musical.


Sharon will have a recurring role in DOCTOR WHO in 2018.

It seems fairly predictable and obvious that Sharon D. Clarke will, most likely, be playing the (worried and concerned) mother of Tosin Cole's character of Ryan.

I wonder if they are trying to recreate the Jackie Tyler dynamic of someone who is worried for their offspring as they adventure with the Doctor?

Cue endless and interminable scenes of his Mum ranting at him for his foolhardiness.

Just how original is Chibnall striving to be?

And, as JB points out... where is the sense of wonder in all of this?

Companions from modern day earth yet again.... Earthbound, Tardis - largely out of action, it seems. The family life of the dull companions?

No exploring the wonders of the universe?

Soap opera dynamics?

The words squib and damp come to mind....


And I have yet to see any impressive dramatic acting ability leaping out of these new, flatly performing, regulars, from what the clips are showing.....

But at least Ryan's mum will be able to belt out a showstopping showtune at a completely innapropriate moment....

Target novels are back!!! With novelizations of some of the better New Who stories! Day of The Doctor, Christmas Invasion and Rose are being readied for release in April! Not sure if I'm interested to be honest although they are going to re-release City of Death! After I've bought the other version of course!!!

I just bought the novelisation of The Pirate Planet which I've just received in the mail and started reading. That brings my novelisation collection of the Classic series ever closer to completion. I think there's just a couple of Dalek stories left now (Resurrection & Revelation?). And I've got the new series titles on my watchlist. I find I enjoy reading the novelisations even more entertaining than rewatching the episodes.

Pirate Planet and Ribos were two stories that I never took to! In fact Pirate made me leave the show for six long weeks in 1978! I eventually returned at the start of Androids of Tara but I felt so guilty! Now though I have no shame at all for leaving the new series!

I never saw Pirate Planet until a few years ago. For some reason the Key to Time season wasn't high on the list of repeats here in Australia. And because there was no novelisation I had no knowledge of the story. When I saw it it didn't rate very highly for me. But I got the novelisation when it came out a recently for the sake of completeness and am finding a new level of appreciation for the story. The novelisation adds in a lot of stuff so it really develops the characters and story well beyond what the show was able to do.

Not sure if it was the story or Bruce Purchase's acting that put me off! He always reminded me of some woman that kept pestering me from about twenty years ago somehow....

I know what you mean, JB. That's one thing I don't miss about IMDB. You only had to breathe a word of criticism of New Who or Moffat on there and the guardians of the show would be on you like a pack of sneering wolves, from the safety of their keyboards.

It was recently announced that series 11 would have a different VFX team as Milk VFX – who have been working with the show since 2005 – announced that Double Negative will be taking over.

That's not the only behind-the-scenes change either as composer Murray Gold has made his departure from the series official, while writer Jamie Mathieson ('Flatline', 'Oxygen') also confirmed he won't be contributing a script for Whittaker's first series.

Alan Cumming To Guest On “Doctor Who”





The one and only Alan Cumming is set to guest star as 17th century ruler King James I on the upcoming new season of The BBC’s “Doctor Who” which stars Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor.

Cumming himself confirmed the casting on the latest episode of the podcast Homo Sapiens, taking on the role of the first monarch to take England’s throne after the end of the Tudor line with the death of Queen Elizabeth I in 1603. Discussing his role, Cumming says:

“I’m about to go and do an episode of Doctor Who, I’m so excited. I’m a nice baddie, I’m James I, so I’m kind of like a dandy, foppy sort of coward who kind of comes alright in the end. And they said he might come back.”

Cumming previously said last year that he’s been approached twice about potentially taking on the role of The Doctor, but was never formally offered the part. The show has, on several occasions, cast companions and Doctors who have guest starred in other roles on the show so his casting here doesn’t rule out the possibility of his eventually playing the part.

“Doctor Who” returns to BBC One and BBC America later this year.

Sounds like desperate tactics to me! But from my perspective no actor can ever beat the original four Doctors Who! I'm certainly more interested in finding old Troughton episodes and than anything to do with New Who, Capaldi or Whitaker!!

I have found a number of detailed rumours elsewhere that go into specifics about two forthcoming episodes. This may all be a load of nonsense, but have spoilered it all in case it is not.... Shamelessly stolen rumourmongering quotes ahoy!

Rumoured Episode Title: GOD'S TELEPHONE

according to all the rumours I've read on net the story working title was leaked months ago and is called 'God's Telephone' and is set sometime in 1950s in America's deep south and is about special group of people and mysterious voice on telephone claiming to be "God" who is constantly telling them what to do and giving them acurate information and advice about future.

Yeah, I see some folks have spotted what they reckon is an American sign in that first picture of Jodie Whittaker filming in South Africa. Then there's this picture here of what looks to me very much like an American police car, so it's sorta looking like Cape Town is doubling as somewhere in America.

Anyway, seems that "Apartheid" rumour was spun due to a sign reading "We Cater to White Trade Only" (still, I expect there'll be a quip about how deplorable that is)

Seems as though it's a story set during the American Segregation era.

Rumour is the story is set around the Rosa Parks incident. A lady famous for a bus trip. The season was supposed to be split over three time zones so presumably this is the earlier timeline.
If true I look forward to the edgy, sassy, streetwise, wisecracking dialogue we are going to get.
Also rumours about how difficult and precious Whittaker is on set. Predominantly on GB. Again YMMV.

I've read that the "Jodie is a jerkass" rumor doesn't have much traction on GB from members in the thick of it, and other sources have said she's great to work with.

Seems some actor called Aki Omoshaybi is gonna play Fred Grey in one of the episodes filmed out in SA. Anyway, there was a Fred Gray who was the American Civil Rights Attorney who defended Rosa Parks when she was nicked for not giving up her seat on the bus, so it kinda ties in with an episode based around that.

It certainly doesn't sound like the PC virtue signalling is going to be dialled back any...

Sounds like it's gonna coincide with "black history month", which I suspect means the series will begin airing in October.

Don't these guys running show get it ? I thought Doctor Who being your generic sci fi show about time travel had silent agreement in staying away from these sort of historical issues as it creates too many problems than ones you're trying to solve. The moment you start addressing these sort of issues people will start asking why doesn't The Doctor do this all time ? Doesn't she have spaceship that's bigger on inside ? Why doesn't The Doctor travel to 1943 to Dachau Concentration Camp and rescue everybody there, get them all inside Tardis somewhere and save them all from extermination ? I mean not that I have tell you this, but these are some of most deeply disturbing and deeply horrific chapters in all of human history that they're trying to address here, ones I feel in all honesty deserves alot more attention paid to them than they would ever get from simple bunch of writers on frickin' BBC kids show. The arrogance of some people ...

I'm still waiting for the Doctor to rescue Jesus from the Romans. (That could make a few changes to history...)

Hmm--think the producers are losing sight of what the show is...primarily an action adventure show--not a beige version of Quantum Leap...Chibnall is nowhere near the writer he thinks he is in his head and on evidence so far has the necessary skill or lightness that such an issue demands---I`m not even sure why Dr Who needs to visit such a theme as ultimately it seems to trivialise the issue which has been better tackled in other forms by means more suited--

Why go back to the 60s anyway and spend all the cash on set dressing, costumes etc---if they want to show the levels of discrimination in the US all they have to do is set it in the present day.

As to proposed move to Sunday--personally not too bothered---watched some Sat night TV other night and my god it was dire--Paddy `stealing a living` MacGuinness and Keith `crass` Lemon--nah..no thanks...move to Sunday would probably give it a boost--but the way the show has been run lately I`m OK if they pulled the plug tomorrow

Latest pic from filming in South Africa, note the bus. I see some folks on GB/Twitter are saying that they think the Montgomery Bus Boycott 1955 might feature in some fashion in this episode.

So far we've got..

Yep. Looks like they're taking the political bullsh*t to a whole new level..

I suppose they won't mention that it was hysterical women who started off the witch trials either.

I must say, it all sounds thoroughly avoidable so far.
