“Prince of Darkness” Could Be A TV Series?
Could one of legendary filmmaker John Carpenter’s notable smaller-budget features be turned into a TV series?
In an interview with
Consequence of Sound this week, Carpenter spoke about an upcoming collaboration with specialist SVOD horror service Shudder and says: “We’re talking to them about doing a theme. And maybe doing a show for them. What would you think about Prince of Darkness as a TV show?”.
Pressed for a solid confirmation of that possibility, Carpenter says: “Well, maybe. Maybe not. I don’t know…I’m not going to tell you. I’m not going to tell you.”
1987’s “Prince of Darkness” follows a group of scientists, a priest and students who gather together in the basement of an abandoned Los Angeles church to study a giant metal cylinder swirling with a strange green liquid that appears to be the corporeal embodiment of Satan himself.
The film combines elements of quantum physics, astronomy, theology and mind control. How it would translate to a series, and how direct Carpenter’s involvement will be, is unclear.
