I've always enjoyed the film and I expect it's now long overdue for someone to come along and fuck up its legacy with an inappropriate remake / reboot...

Just re-watch the original.

After The Evil Dead got a remake, I kept waiting for someone to pop up announcing a more brutal remake of Army Of Darkness, in that Zack Snyder way of remaking Dawn Of The Dead as a stand alone film. Here, Ash is less self-absorbed buffoon and instead Navy SEAL Dwayne Johnson sent back in time to defeat the forces of evil.

Actually, I would probably watch that. Damn it!

Yes, it seems a logical move at some point. And their justification would be that they could finally include all the bits that were cut out of the books in the movie adaptions. One season per book, presumably.

In 1997, they started working on a remake - and there are designs from it - but it never took off.

Also, James Cameron was talking about it in 2010 and J. Michael Straczynski wrote the script but instead of writing a direct remake he wrote a prequel that would set the groundwork for a franchise.

It seems to have never gotten further than the script and idea stage.

Its been a trend to turn books into series instead of movies.

I read about this yesterday. First off, it is being written by two men, so I fail to see how they can write from the female perspective. Second, while the book is an allegory for societal breakdown in crises, it also reflects how specifically males react to such a crisis. The testosterone-driven attempt to become the alpha in the situation, which is what drives the group of young men in this narrative. I feel like the writers failed to take in what the book was actually about, and are simply writing it in the attempt to garner the female audience. That's not writing for the demographic, that's being lazy.

I am curious about another Lord Of The Flies remake. I wonder how they will change this story, now it's about a group of girls.
Woman are different from men, but put a bunch of us together in one place and there will be a hierarchy struggle. It's just that females go about it in a different way.
