This movie isn't really that bad considering it's not official Bond but does star the original EON actor, Sean Connery. Strength for me lies in some scenes ie. Bond and Largo playing out their bets on the Domination game. Some good scenes kept me watching mixed with (imo) good locales, should also keep the most skeptical of viewers interested for at least one viewing.

I think that it is great as a curious oddity, but there are ropy and corny aspects along the way that undermine it slightly and I thought that during some scenes Sean is just stood there, looking as if he is trying to hide his boredom and disinterest rather than acting!

Still, I am glad it exists and it is a watchable enough movie. Not a disaster by any means.

Agreed. Oh, and might I add that this is the second time I believe that someone other than A. R. B. released a non EON 007 theatrical film the same year. "YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE" & (More of a spoof) "CASINO ROYALE" 1967. "OCTOPUSSY" & "NEVER SAY NEVER (AGAIN)" 1983.

BTW, my apologies for straying OT. but I may forget later. For those curious enough in the 007 universe, a film titled "O.K. CONNERY" came out in 1967 as well. AKA "OPERATION KID BROTHER" and "OPERATION DOUBLE 007". Oddly, someone went through the trouble and attached a bad looking anamorphic stretched gun barrel to the front of "O.K. CONNERY" on Youtube and added photo stills for yet another title, "THE NEW SPY AGAINST DIVIDED EVIL". Here is the Wiki link> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O.K._Connery

This is a strange one. I like Never Say Never Again. However, despite having Connery back as Bond, it does have a slight straight-to-video-sequel vibe. Not sure why I feel that way. It certainly has a sterling cast and a good script (based on Thunderball).

The song at the beginning is also mildly desperate, I think.

Trying to be a Bond ballad and not quite making it. :emoji_confused:

I remember watching this one and thinking how old Sean Connery looked to be playing Bond. And it suffered from being a recycled plot and the lack of the regular cast. And Sean Connery's obvious disinterest during many scenes. Interesting to watch but not really up to standard unfortunately.
