Legendary AC/DC rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young has died after a three-year battle with early-onset dementia, which forced him out of the band he and Angus brought to rock and roll superstardom.

Malcolm is preceded in death by second lead singer Bon Scott (Little-known fact: Dave Evans was their original singer) and (more recently) Angus and Malcolm's own brother, Easybeats guitarist George Young, without whom there would be no AC/DC. George produced many of AC/DC's albums.

While Angus is certainly more famous than his older brother, Malcolm was the second half of that twin guitar attack. Angus brought the licks and solos, but Malcolm brought the riffs. They wrote many of the lyrics after Brian Johnson had quickly run out of ideas.

AC/DC barely survived Bon's death, but as Bon himself famously crooned, "It's a long way to the top if you wanna rock 'n' roll."

Malcolm Young, FIRE! We salute you.

AC/DC is one of my guilty pleasure bands. While it can be argued that much of their catalog sounds alike, they're still a tight band who have lasted for decades, following a formula which has worked for them. Their songs are entertaining, and albums like Back in Black are solid rock efforts whit every song being great. Malcolm will certainly be missed. :emoji_cry:
