Two comedy shows both first aired in '65. Just recently got DVDs of both, reliving childhood memories. Not bad, neither are the belly laughs I thought they'd be , but quite enjoyable.
I don't remember every having watched F Troop, or if I did, it wasn't memorable. Hogan's Heroes, however, I still love. As you say, no belly laughs, but still pretty danged funny.
As a kid, I absolutely loved F TROOP. It was often repeated over the years on various TV networks in Australia, normally around 1600 to 1800 during weekdays.
As for HOGAN'S HEROES... I thought it was okay, but I never really got into it.
A third American classic show starting in 1965 was I Dream Of Jeannie.
This I have a soft spot for, I have all the DVDs and it's consistently good. Barbara Eden and Larry Hagman are terrific of course, but I must mention Hayden Rorke as Dr Bellows , he puts in a wonderful performance as the beleaguered psychiatrist.
