Started watching this for the first time in March, now up to series 10.
Can't believe I didn't watch this sooner, its very enjoyable.
Premise: British Detective Inspector reluctantly sent to take charge of police in Saint Marie, a Caribbean Island, a British protectorate.
Ben Miller was the first lead of the show as DI Richard Poole, leading a team of four, with Sara Martins Gary Carr, and Danny John Jules ( Cat In Red Dwarf) as fellow officers investigating murders on this idyllic Island paradise.
Over the seasons despite cast changes the formula stays the same and is solid and into series 10 which is where I'm up to the original team of four have all gone, but replaced by equally compelling characters.
There's a feel of Colombo about it as the dogged detective pieces together the clues to solve the murder, with an Agatha Christie style round up of suspects at the end to reveal the killer. Some excellent list of guest stars appear, and all the actors who have played the lead detective have brought something new to the show ,in how they approach the job. After Ben Miller we've had Kris Marshall, Ardal O'Hanlon, and Ralph Little. Recommended.
