I think that it will prove impossible for anyone else to ever better essay the role of Dirty Harry.

It is one of those roles that I think it impossible for any actor to beat, casting wise.

And that's just one of Clint's accomplishments over the years.

Dirty Harry is the role I most associate him with though.

I like Rawhide which I guess started it all for him.

I've seen at least 1 if not 2 western films of his.

The one that comes to mind was from 1967 which I've since forgotten the name.

It was mentioned there was a blooper where one could see traffic from a nearby expressway in the background of one scene.

I like some stuff, but not all his movies. I liked the older westerns, but didn't care for Unforgiven. I liked Gran Trono, Dirty Harry movies, Any Which/Every Which way, Pink Cadillac, and a few others.

One of my favorite movies is The Eiger Sanction. Grew up on Dirty Harry. Not into Westerns but there are always exceptions, and Unforgiven is one of 'em. He's done quite a few I like. Tightrope.

I've enjoyed most of his work, including BRONCO BILLY, HONKYTONK MAN, THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY and even REVENGE OF THE CREATURE, but I draw the line at PAINT YOUR WAGON...

How can you take Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood, team them up in a western... and then turn it into a fucking musical?! A musical that lasts for over two and a half hours?! Unbelievable... :emoji_astonished:

Having said that, I do like Lee Marvin's rendition of WAND'RIN' STAR. But that still doesn't make up for the other two and a half hours! :emoji_cry:

Paint Your Wagon was one of my mom's all-time favorite movies! I gave it a shot and....oh, the music pretty painful. It does have a subversive streak I like, though. :emoji_blush:

Every which way but loose is another great hour and a half of laughs from the big guy threatening Clint because he dared to take the nuts out of the bowl in the bar to the fight with old Tank Murdoch at the end!

Eiger is especially good with Pope, played by Gregory Walcott, trying his luck with Clint and later on the big guy who is Jack Cassidy's minder whom Mr.Eastwood takes care of pretty swiftly! We also have the classic "Freitag, you Assssshollle!!" tearing across the mountains after the German guy tried to avoid assisting Clint's gang from rescuing an injured climber! So damn funny!

I recently rewatched The Gauntlet, first time since I was a young man. Boy how impressions change. Then I saw it as fun, now I see it as preposterous but well acted with Sondra Locke carrying the movie. She has a lot of charisma and the audience and Clint can't help but fall in love with her.

I recently saw The Gauntlet too as it wasn't in my Clint collection! But I couldn't find it anywhere in the shops as well as a few others like Honky Tonk Man etc...! Eventually I found it on a market stall for a quid, but I thought it was quite good, not brilliant but okay!
Sondra Locke has nothing but bad words to say about Clint these days, about how he controlled her and her career and wouldn't let her get pregnant despite him having at least two more children after their relationship ended in the late eighties/ early nineties I believe!

Can't say I've ever heard of Ratboy, Doc! The only other acting part I've seen her in was an episode of the Planet of The Apes TV series from 1974! The episode was called The Cure and she played Amy, a human villager who captures the heart of astronaut Alan Virdon (Ron Harper)

I loved it the first time I saw it and I loved it the last time I saw it.

Recently watched Coogan's Bluff the other night and even though it's a Malpaso film I didn't see Clint's usual band of mates like Geoffrey Lewis, Roy Jensen or Gregory Walcutt anywhere! Clifford Pellow, who was in Magnum Force made a brief turn as a waiter but that was it! Plus how did Clint resist all those beauties that were after him in it? I know I couldn't or wouldn't have! :emoji_yum:
