I wish BBC America had a streaming service for us.

Do you have any suggestions? Is there no way to see this in the USA? I remember watching the Tennent Dr. on PBS, that's when I first started watching. Now that I want to pick up again, options are very few. If I paid for "digital" w/the cable co. I think it is available. But, I just have "basic" cable so no Who that way either. BOO, WHO, WHO. (pun intended) So, seriously is there really no Who for me?...

Yeah, you have to get a cable plan with BBCA. That's how I watch it. I'd love to get rid of cable but, aside from Amazon Prime (which makes you pay an additional $20 on top of the $99 fee) I don't know how.

Well, thanks for replying, I guess that's that. The confusing thing to me is that the site implies that you can stream from it. There are other network sites that allow streaming, such as FX, CW, ABC,
and others. I don't understand why the site doesn't let the episodes thru. No Who for me...

I would like to enjoy the Who with the rest of the world.

Unfortunately, the US Geo-Blocks most of the rest of the world from our internet access. So, you can download the player because BBC will let you but the US won't let you view anything on it because they can't collect any money for it if they do. But you don't have to go with Amazon Fire TV Box. You can buy a variety of "android" type boxes that will get you access to any number of shows from around the world via KODI. Once you hood your box up, all you pay is the internet fee. I've got access to a great company that can program stuff onto a box for you and then gives you 90 days of free support on how to work it. I got a medium sized computer keyboard with a mouse trap-pad on it and we just love it.

PM me if you're interested and we can talk some more about it. Otherwise, you're pretty much stuck with what you can get from Comcast, AT&T or whatever service you use on your TV.... if any at all. Even then, you're limited to what they show when they show it.

I've never liked Who. It just feels like there are no consequences to anything.

He could go back one week and kill Hitler before he was born then the following week he's fighting Nazis in world war II.

It just feels flimsy to me.

For me, continuity matters. It's as important to me as remaining accurate to the source material.

However, it appears to be a secondary consideration to many others.

By the way, the continuity in the DOCTOR WHO: CONTINUITY ZONE picture is incorrect. There is no War Doctor present.

But we can infer he never would for two wholesome reasons:
(1) Genesis of the Daleks - given the choice to get in some preventative extermination of the daleks, he realises he hasn't the right - because they haven't done anything to deserve it.
(2) Let's Kill HiItler - Hitler gets a smack and Rory shoves him in a cupboard instead of anything more terminal.

it's a series devised for children, and by extension a family show - so no hands-on murdering of real life historical characters, even if in real life they were genocidal maniacs.
I see your "flimsy", dear Hux, and raise you a BBC "sturdy" instead. But if you don't like the show, you are 100% entitled to say so - it's interesting to learn other people's opinions.

Who were the Morbius Doctors?

Some argue that they were earlier incarnations of Morbius himself, but that has never rung true to me. Why would Morbius dress in such a Doctor-ish way each time?

Phillip Hinchcliffe also stated that it was, indeed, his intention to imply that there were earlier Doctors before Hartnell.

So where do we stand now with these guys?

Logically, the so-called "Morbius Doctors" were earlier incarnations of Morbius.

Some argue that they were earlier incarnations of Morbius himself, but that has never rung true to me.

It is a perfectly logical point of view. The point of the game was to think your opponent backwards through his or her earlier incarnations to a point before they existed - and Morbius lost that game.

Why would Morbius dress in such a Doctor-ish way each time?

Why would Susan dress like a teenage girl from Earth?

Why would the meddling Monk dress like he does?

Or the War Chief?

Or the Time Lord who warned the Doctor at the beginning of TERROR OF THE ZYGONS?

Or the Master?

Or Romana?

Or Drax?

Or the Rani?

None of them dressed in typical Gallifreyan attire.

Why would time capsules come equipped with such extensive wardrobes if the occupants weren't expected to avail themselves of the contents?

And finally, would you please define exactly what it is that makes up a typically "Doctor-ish" mode of dress? I've seen other people - fictional and real - wear various articles of clothing that were identical to those worn by various Doctors.

Members of the cast and crew can state what they like about what their behind-the-scenes intentions were. It is what occurs and is stated onscreen that counts. When DOCTOR WHO first began, there was no behind-the-scenes intention to replace the lead actor or introduce the concept of regeneration...

But guess what?

So where do we stand now wish these guys?

These were the first eight incarnations of Morbius, whom the rogue Time Lord most likely used up once he left Gallifrey and went on his rampage of conquest. He and his followers apparently fought many battles, until the last of them were finally hunted down, confronted and defeated on Karn. Such an aggressive and violent lifestyle is bound to take its toll - even on a Time Lord.

If you're uncomfortable with that explanation you could always assume that the Doctor was just generating fake images of himself on screen to fool Morbius into thinking he was winning. Either way, the evidence shows that the Doctor was winning the battle.

Seriously? I never knew that! But given that I refuse to totally surrender the child in myself and become (ahem) a "grown-up" I can't tell you how pleased I am to know that at least some of my viewing habits cover me on both fronts.


As to continuity, I've long ago come to accept that it's a star to wish on. I can't count the number of movies and TV shows that can't even manage it from one scene to the next, let alone throughout a series. Hair styles, clothing, what people are carrying and how... it all changes like a game of musical chairs; so I try not to let it bother me as much as I possibly can or I'd be spending all my time looking for mistakes instead of enjoying what's in front of me.

As for clothing in particular, honestly... "Who" can say why anyone dresses the way they do? I've seen 60 year old men with tummies the size of beer kegs walk through casinos in "speedo" bathing trunks on their way to the pool and had a bartender comment that you could always tell when a man was in Vegas alone because no woman with a brain in her head would let them out of the room dressed the way they were! It's true of women as well. How many gals have we seen on the streets in skin-tight leggings or jeans and a tee shirt so tight she could barely pull it over a bulging body? And I'm not complaining about people with weight issues or anything. Everybody has the right to weigh what they do and dress how they want to cover it.... But in certain cases, don'tcha just gotta ask yourself what the hell they were thinking when they looked in the mirror and decided, yeah... that's good!?

So I've found the clothing I've seen on The Doctor to be pretty representative of the world and it's people at large anyway and just don't overthink it too much. I do love how when the "boys" regenerate that the first thing they do is run for a mirror to see what the "New Who" looks like..... "Am I ginger? I've always wanted to be ginger!" I love it!!!!! And Matt Smith's choice to go for a long jacket and bow tie really rocked my view of the character in general. When The War Doctor started calling them "sand shoes" and.... oh shoot, what did he call the bow tie on MS's Doc?..... I loved that too!

I just toss it all into the pot of Timey Wimeyness that is The Doctor and let the good times roll! But then, I'm still part child anyway so what the hell do I know?!

@Janine The Barefoot As a bigger man, I totally agree with you. I tend to wear baggier clothes because a) it fits better, and b) no one wants to see my dad body in skinny jeans. Working with the public, I see so many women who are bigger trying to dress like the girls at the club, with tank tops two sizes too small, and shorts that barely cover their tushies. I have no problem with women of any size, I like the variety. And I believe in body affirmation. Be proud of yourself. But there are limits to what should be worn.

Unless it's in the bedroom. Because anything goes there.

I'm in my 40s and I wear shorts all year round - without exception. Of course, at home, I don't bother dressing for the occasion. However, if I wear a cap, I wear it the right way around because I don't like the prospect of skin cancer.
