Review Hammer House Of Horror (1980)

Yes it's a strange episode, not sure if Peter McEnery's character is mad or is Satan really inside his head waiting to be let out hence the drill. The follow up series Mystery and Suspense, wasn't as good but did have a few goodies. The Corvini Inheritance with David McCallum, The Wall Came...

One of the best of the series.

    Review Raffles

Maybe it was because tv viewing habits were different in the good old days, but as teenager I didn't mind the occasional costume drama, and one of my favorites was Raffles with Anthony Valentine and Christopher Strauli. Excellent series well acted and the usual galaxy of guest stars. I read...

    Review The Squirrels

Before Rising Damp Eric Chappell was behind this office comedy show. Bernard Hepton and Ken Jones star also with Ellis Jones who might be remembered for Pardon My Genie, the Bob Block kids comedy. Available on YouTube.

Review Hammer House Of Horror (1980)

The first foray into tv for the legendary film company. Thirteen episodes, mostly terrific, a few duds but overall a good series. My favorites; Silent Scream with Peter Cushing as a concentration camp guard still experimenting 35 years on, Rude Awakening about a guy who murders his wife on...

    Review The Mighty Boosh

Yes, despite my comments I love it too . His follow up show Luxury Comedy is harder to get into but I enjoyed it, hope there's more.

    Review The Mighty Boosh

This show is a poser. Is it crazily brilliant or just crazily juvenile? .

Fun What TV Shows Are You Watching/Rewatching at the Moment?

Loved James Bolam in The Likely Lads, Only When I Laugh, and recently discovered the Bierdebeck Trilogy, which was an Alan Plater comedy /drama series with the delectable Barbara Flynn.

    Review Hawaii Five 0 (1968)

Which of the two versions do you prefer? Stupid question right? There's only one real McCoy , that's the one which was called Hawaii Five (number)0, not Hawaii Five (letter)O. Five 0 = fiftieth state. Simple really. Perhaps I'm being harsh, maybe the new series logo is a fat zero!

    Review Irwin Allen

Okay, someone had to mention this guy. What do we think of his work? David Hedison said Allen was a great ideas man but should never be let loose near a camera! Land of the Giants is my favourite, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea is OK for two series, Lost in Space was watchable at first and then...

    Review Public Eye (1965)

Alfred Burke stars in this wonderful detective series. Frank Marker is a ex con down on his luck investigator dealing mainly with unsavoury cases. 52 episodes thankfully still survive, I've seen half of the box set and really impressive , with a host of top stars appearing. Burke is amazing in...

    Review The Brittas Empire

" Okay people we are having this staff meeting, only the tenth today, it's been a bit busy in the leisure centre. Are you sure Tim that you're only allowing people 15 minutes on the squash courts?" " Absolutely Mr Brittas" " We're here to remind people on this forum of our wonderful show, hang...

    Review Timeslip (1970)

This was a very interesting younger viewers Sci fi series. Two young kids can sense a time barrier and relive past events at a second world war naval base overrun with Nazis. In a well put together six episode opener, while on vacation with parents Liz and Simon stumble into a deserted naval...

    Review Callan (1967)

What a tremendous series this was. Edward Woodward as the world weary Callan operating in the dark world of espionage, great supporting cast, Anthony Valentine, Patrick Mower, William Squire, Russell Hunter and great guest cast. Both the monochrome and colour DVD box sets are brilliant.

    Review Ace Of Wands

Used to love this as a kid , got the DVDs, such a pity only the third series survives, but it's a good watch. Michael McKenzie was great as the mysterious Tarot, a psychic, a magician and a crime fighter. Assisted by Chas and Mikki played by Roy Holder and Petra Markham in the third series, and...
