Fun Looking for a movie

I bought “Elmer Gantry” with a gift card, but I’m going to return it because it’s not the film I have in mind.

I’m looking for a black and white movie with a reactionary preacher who gets mad at the end of the film and starts yelling until he has a heart attack and dies. Does that ring any bells for anyone?

This sounds so familiar, but I can't place it. I grew up on old B&W movies, and I'm certain I know this one. Gah, why do you vex me so?
