Brendan Fraser has been cast as Cliff Steele (aka. Robotman) in the upcoming live-action series “Doom Patrol” for DC Universe and Warner Bros Television.

The story deals with a group of outcasts – Robotman (Fraser), Negative Man, Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby) and Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero) – as they’re hired by Cyborg (Joivan Wade) on a mission that will take them to the weirdest and most unexpected corners of the DC universe.

A former race car driver, Cliff Steele was in a horrific accident that left his body uninhabitable. Cliff’s brain was saved by the mysterious Dr. Niles Caulder and he lives on in a powerful robotic body.

Fraser will provide the voice-over for Robotman and will appear in flashback scenes as Cliff Steele. Riley Shanahan will provide the physical performance of the character on stage in full body costume.

Jeremy Carver (“Supernatural”) is penning the adaptation and will serve as showrunner. Geoff Johns, Sarah Schechter and Greg Berlanti will executive produce.

Former James Bond and “Penny Dreadful” star Timothy Dalton has been set to lead the cast of the upcoming live-action series “Doom Patrol” on the DC Universe streaming service.

Dalton will play the group’s leader, Dr. Niles ‘The Chief’ Caulder, in the series which hails from Jeremy Carver (“Supernatural”) and Greg Berlanti (“The Flash”) who are executive producing for Warner Bros. Television.

The series is a reimagining of a strange group of DC Comics outcasts: Robotman (Brendan Fraser), Negative Man (Dwain Murphy), Elasti-Woman (April Bowlby) and Crazy Jane (Diane Guerrero). Led by the mysterious Caulder, they’re called into action by the ultimate hero for the digital age, Cyborg (Joivan Wade), for a mission that will take them to the weirdest and most unexpected corners of the DC universe.
