Your thoughts on this movie....

Dorothy Gale is swept away from a farm in Kansas to a magical land of Oz in a tornado and embarks on a quest with her new friends to see the Wizard who can help her return home to Kansas and help her friends as well.

I'm surprised I never thought to make this thread. It's one of my favorite books, and was made into a great (although really loosely based on the book) film. It should have been obvious to make a post like this. I feel stupid now, haha.

Anyway, I did make some videos about the Hanging Munchkin earlier this year.

The last two of the four are just extras I made in response to rude comments, but they are still pretty entertaining.

There was a sequel made in the 80's , not as good as the original, but not bad and based on a L Frank Baum novel.
That's not really a sequel to the classic movie. Its only tie to it is the Ruby Slippers, which were silver in the original book. Return to Oz is more of a sequel to a version of the original book that we didn't get to see or read. It's a nice adaptation of the second and third books though.

I watched those and it nicely. methodically debunks the whole thing.

I also like your style of presenting. Taking apart the whole thing, calmly, point by point, and demolishing any rebuttals.

After your videos, it is clearly "case closed" on the Suicidal Munchkin! :emoji_nerd:

Or should be, anyway, but it can, of course, be difficult trying to rationalise with people who want to believe something, even when they are confronted with cold logic, simple facts and reasoned argument.

Dark Secrets of the Wizard of Oz Documentary

Why are the elite obsessed with Red Shoes? And what Role do the red shoes play in this bizarre subculture? What is with the rainbow symbolism in Eyes Wide Shut? You'll never look at Wizard of Oz the same again. Urban legends aside, the movie "The Wizard of Oz" has a dark side that few are are of, a land of govt. mind-control, occult philosophy and more.

Dark Secrets of the Wizard of Oz Documentary

I didn't finish watching that documentary. I shut it off immediately after the inaccuracy of "Oz" being short for "Osiris." L. Frank Baum himself stated that he named Oz during one of his storytelling sessions to children, when one asked him what the name of the land was. He had to think of a quick name, saw his file cabinet "O-Z," and came up with the name of the land.

These guys claim to know about the book, but it's clear they either haven't read it, or have read it and are tryibg to distort facts, because they are trying to take elements that are exclusive to the movie (including the Ruby Slippers, which they put a lot of emphasis on), and pretend that they are something that Theosophical Baum actually wrote into the book. This is, at best, poor research, at worst, deliberate misrepresentation of facts.

A century after the Wicked Witch, the Emerald City is at the mercy of a once-revered hero, and salvation comes from the wrench of young Victoria Wright. Rediscover old friends and meet new heroes in this new tale set in the Land of Oz.
Based on a comic book.
