My top 5 favourite films. I believe in top 5 lists. It makes you concentrate on your absolute favourites. No top 10. No honourable mentions...

1. Ferris Bueller's Day Off
2. Rushmore
3. Goodfellas
4. The Shining
5. There Will Be Blood
I go the other way...

I prefer a top 20 - or even a top 50 - and I'm really concentrating and focusing in on the films that matter the most to me.

King Kong 1976
Alien 3
Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
Beneath the Planet of the Apes

Looking at my list, it is clear that I am drawn to trainwreck films. It fascinates me that all those creative minds can spend a lot of time and money, yet create something that doesn't work for a lot of people, but I am comforted that other people like these five also. :emoji_alien:

Too many. Way too many. And I would say the more you include it's the less you concentrate, but to each their own. What I am saying is, creating a top 20 or 50 would be easy. Making a top 5 is very difficult for a movie geek.

For me, making a top 20 would be almost as impossible as a top 5.

I'm a film buff and I've simply seen too many films I like too much to not include them all in a "top list" of any size. Of course, if you simply wanted me to list my number one, absolute favourite, that's another matter. I'm forty-nine and I've had five number ones in my lifetime, starting from when I was about nine.

In the order that I first saw them...

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND (1977)

SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT (1977)

MIDNIGHT EXPRESS (1978)

SCARFACE (1983)

DOCTOR ZHIVAGO (1965)

And the first four still remain firm favourites with me.
