Sofia Boutella, who will be seen playing the titular character in the upcoming movie The Mummy, has bagged another big Hollywood project. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the 35-year-old actor is all set to play the female lead in HBO Films’ upcoming movie Fahrenheit 451.

The cast in the adaptation of the Ray Bradbury classic include the likes of Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon. Bradbury’s 1953 novel is set in a futuristic America where books are outlawed and those that are discovered are burned by “firemen.”


Jordan will play Montag, a young fireman who forsakes his world, battles his mentor and struggles to regain his humanity. Shannon will portray Beatty, Montag’s captain and mentor. The Mummy star will play Clarisse, an informant caught between the competing interests of Montag and Beatty.

The award-winning book has been adapted multiple times, including a 1966 film by Francois Truffaut and a 1982 Radio BBC version. American director and screenwriter Ramin Bahrani will be behind the camera for the project. Amir Naderi and Bahrani will co-wrote HBO’s new take.

Actor Michael B. Jordan has used his Instagram account to post a first look photo from HBO’s upcoming new adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s sci-fi novel classic “Fahrenheit 451”.

The story is set in a totalitarian future where Guy Montag (Jordan), a fireman of the future who goes around burning books on Government orders, becomes disillusioned with the society which has become anti-social, hedonistic, and suppresses critical thought.

Michael Shannon will play Beatty, Montag’s fireman captain and mentor with both actors seen in the photo. Sofia Boutella will play Clarisse, an informant caught between the competing interests of the pair. Ramin Bahrani is directing from a script he co-wrote with Amir Naderi.

No premiere date has yet been set.

Yet another in a long line of totally unnecessary remakes.

Hollywood wouldn't know an original idea if it jumped up and bit them on the arse.

Three More Join HBO’s “Fahrenheit 451”

Martin Donovan (“Ant-Man”), Andy McQueen (“The Girlfriend Experience”) and Grace Lynn Kung (“Miss Sloane”) have all scored supporting roles in the upcoming HBO Films adaptation of sci-fi author Ray Bradbury’s iconic work – “Fahrenheit 451”.

The story is set in a totalitarian near future where media is the opiate of the masses, history has been outlawed and ‘firemen’ burn books. Michael B. Jordan plays Guy Montag, a young fireman who forsakes his world, battles his mentor (Michael Shannon) and struggles to regain his humanity.

Donovan will play ministry official Commissioner Nyari, McQueen and Kung play resistance members. Sofia Boutella and Lilly Singh co-star. Ramin Bahrani is directing and co-writing the script with Amir Naderi.

Details: HBO Films’ new adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s tale, arguably the most famous dystopian work of fiction aside from “1984,” is premiering as a telemovie in the United States. However don’t be shocked if this gets a limited theatrical run internationally like with “Behind the Candelabra” a few years back.

Bahrani, coming off strong work in the housing crisis drama “99 Homes,” has assembled a stellar cast including Michael Shannon, Michael B. Jordan and Sofia Boutella for the story of a future where media is a mass opiate, history is outlawed and ‘firemen’ burn books with Jordan’s young fireman forsaking this world. Jordan is producing the project which will mark the first film adaptation of the work in fifty years.

I'm actually looking forward to this one. I read the book as required reading back in high school, and then the teacher showed us the old movie, and when it was over, the first statement out of my mouth was "Okay, so when are going to watch Fahrenheit 451?" The movie was barely even recognizable as the same story, and I could hardly follow it at all. It wasn't until reading this comment section here that I even realized that a lot of people actually liked the old the old movie. I was under the impression that the old movie had been a massive flop. I guess I was wrong. So, yeah. Hopefully this new movie will be closer to what I wanted to see back in high school.

A film can be a flop at first, but go on to be a cult and critical success in later years.

Just look at BLADE RUNNER.
