What a terrible race this was, very chaotic. And again mechanical failure on Verstappen's car.
I long ago gave up on F1, and for years have followed Indy car. It's fantastic, exciting, and faster than F1,so F1 isn't even the most dangerous.
There's terrific racing on the ovals, at 230mph, three abreast sometimes. Very challenging street circuits, and great drivers.
Ex F1 drivers this season such as Montoya and Sato, Indycar stalwarts like Helio Castroneves, Scott Dixon, Tony Kanaan, and female drivers too.
Danica Patrick the biggest name, though this year I think she's in Nascar. Adventurous owners such as Chip Ganassi, Michael Andretti, and Roger Penske. There is zilch that F1 does that Indycar can't do better except better and more sophisticated technology in the cars, and that doesn't always translate to better racing. Less technology in Indycar makes it more of a driver vs driver contest. Also less constructors means the cars are more closely matched.
Points are scored more imaginatively too, with points awarded further down the placings, points for pole, fastest lap. A criticism I accept is that the safety car interruptions are frequent and does bunch the cars regularly sometimes for minor debris on the track.
I'm hoping Alonso's woes this season will make him switch to Indycar next year. His Indy500 drive this year was awesome for a rookie.

I don't like Indy car racing. The drivers aren't the best and each race is caution after caution, because they can't keep their cars on track. And when there is one drop of rain, red flag.
Of course I watched Alonso at the Indy 500. But when his Honda also failed him there, I stopped watching. I don't like oval racing.

i don't watch F1 for chaos and danger. I just want good racing.
Max Verstappen is an exciting driver but his car always fails. Again this weekend, right at the start. The guy has less rounds finished than Alonso, and he missed a race.
This year the teams are a bit closer together, so that is nice. The cars have amazing corner speed because of the new designs and broader tires. They had to strengthen their necks more because of it.
But these hybrid engines are crap.

Any F1 fans here?
Im excited for the new season.
Sorry, but I find those types of cars to be as dull as dishwater.

I prefer the V8 supercar series in Australia. I want to watch the same sorts of cars - roughly speaking - race that you can buy at your local car dealership. However, even then, there's only so much motorsport I can deal with before I start losing the will to live...
