This episode has a interesting premise, let down somewhat by a poorly thought out , though exciting end. The Aliens have an unmanned probe hidden in orbit around Earth, hidden in space junk. This is a nice idea, there's plenty of leftover bits of junk from Apollo missions floating in orbit, and here the aliens wait for a passing SHADO craft then then the probe emerges from its lair, inside a piece of discarded Apollo craft and attacks the SHADO craft by attaching itself to its underside and pulling it into an orbit around Earth causing it to burn up. Straker wants all space junk cleared, but head of Astrophysics Commission, General Henderson, who holds the SHADO purse strings disagrees, hence the conflict of the title. But it's all a decoy by the aliens apparently , hiding a much larger scheme, an attack on SHADO HQ using a super powerful craft specially weaponized, this is fine, and a good ending, but how Straker works it out is anyone's guess. That's the letdown, but overall a good romp.
