Funny, most I could think of did make this list. Sadly, the car jumps from Hooper, Smokey and the Bandit, or Road Trip didn't make it. I'm surprised none from Dukes of Hazzard even made the list.

Hot Fuzz - even tops The Blues Brothers for me (although they remain my all time favourite overall car chase).
All the car stunts in the original and genuine Italian Job and an honourable mention to Thelma and Louise (they won didn't they?)

Kinda a corny movie, but the beginning popped into my head when you referenced T&L. Plus I meant the movie reference as a joke.

My favourite car race film remains Genevieve, with A Mad Mad Mad Mad World a close second. They would make two halves of a really eccentric double bill. And Genevieve has the bonus benefit of being based on the London - Brighton annual veteran car rally, which still exists, in original vehicles built neither for speed nor comfort. For a chance to take part in that, I might even learn to drive.
