This film shouldn't work, but it does, and brilliantly. You get just enough of everyone's backstories to understand who they are, and because of the story, you really don't need to know anything about what happens next. I'm rather surprised that studio execs didn't demand a sequel, because in this day and age, there would be those who would demand one, all the while writing their little fan fictions about how Andrew and Bender were actually in love with each other, and having them banging each other in the men's room (have I mentioned how much I dislike those people?). This film ends perfectly, with no need to take the story further and ruin a fantastic film.
