Review Smokey and the Bandit (1977)

When I was a kid, my dad took me to see this at the local drive-in, because mum was working. I'd never seen anything as incredible as this. It was my favourite film as a kid - and it is still in my top ten favourite films even now.
For me, it was the best film of 1977 - followed closely by CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND. Who cares about what happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away when you can watch two good ole boys from Atlanta Georgia go out for beer instead...
I have never watched any other film as often as I have seen this one, although FIRST BLOOD and MIDNIGHT EXPRESS come close. Even to this day, I never grow tired of watching it. I know the dialogue and music from this film forwards, backwards and sideways...
When playing GTA V or GTAO, I sometimes take out my Imponte Ruiner - which looks like the black and gold 1983 Pontiac Trans-Am from SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT PART 3 - and take it for a spin while I play songs from the film franchise on my laptop computer.
Ah, memories...

It's full of great action set-pieces and has a real laid-back charm. Gleason is memorably unhinged and Field is great too.
