Slender Man
Joey King and Julia Goldani-Telles are set to star alongside Annalise Basso and Jaz Sinclair in Sylvain White’s horror thriller “Slender Man” which will open May 2018.

Written by David Birke and Mike Scannell, the story follows a tall, thin horrifying figure with preternaturally long arms and a featureless face. He is thought to be responsible for the haunting, stalking, and disappearance of countless victims.

First Trailer: “Slender Man”

The infamous internet meme “Slender Man” becomes a narrative feature with the first trailer arriving today for the horror tale directed by Sylvain White (“The Losers,” “Stomp The Yard”).

Specifics of the plot are under wraps, beyond what’s in the trailer which sees a girl having disappeared and a bunch of creepy imagery. Only briefly seen is the titular figure created in a 2009 Photoshop contest which showed an abnormally tall, skinnier than humanly possible pale man without a face and dressed in a suit and tie.

Several films and games based on the character have been made in the past, while in 2014 two 12-year-old American girls in Wisconsin lured a friend into the woods and stabbed her 19 times in an effort to ‘appease’ the fictional entity. That true crime story became the subject of a documentary last year on HBO.

Jaz Sinclair, Joey King, Julia Goldani Telles, Annalise Basso, Alex Fitzalan, and Kevin Chapman co-star in the new film which opens May 18th.

“Slender Man” Was Gutted Before Release

t turns out “The Meg” wasn’t the only new film that got somewhat defanged and de-bloodied before it hit cinemas last Friday.

Bloody Disgusting reports that the teen horror film that opened opposite it, the creepypasta character brought to life tale “Slender Man,” was even more cut back from its original R-rating to the PG-13 its theatrical cut was. Some edits were made to make sure the film’s target audience of teenagers was able to see it.

However deep cuts came in the wake of the father of one of the children involved in a real-life violent attack surrounding the character came out against the film. As a result, the studio pulled back hard on the movie with several major scenes removed from the final cut without tidying – essentially resulting in an incomplete work.

The edits didn’t help, “Slender Man” opened in fourth place at the domestic box office this weekend with a disappointing $11 million.
