Hepburn shines in this sophisticated romance playing a working class chauffeur’s daughter who’s swept off her feet by wealthy playboy Holden. Bogart is his older, workaholic brother who attempts to thwart their budding relationship for business and, eventually, personal reasons.
Bogart’s casting is distinctly offbeat but the film works due to director Billy Wilder’s deft and polished direction. It's like a Cinderella story, turned on its head. The film also has a few things to say about breaking social barriers and the calculated nature of the business world.
