I think it was one which may have been originally made in B&W and recoloured from the 60s.
All I remember was this man had a doorway he acquired somehow which was kept in his house maybe in the basement and behind it was a brick wall but when he opened the door it let him cross over to somewhere. I seem to remember there being a bit of a twist where someone was either trying to steal or destroy the doorway.
EDIT: Also I should add that while it was made in the 60s I think it was set much earlier and it was probably British.

I do think it was a semi well-known film though so maybe someone has seen it?
