Beautifully designed fantasy with a lively collection of pixies, gnomes, gremlins and dwarves. It kept me enthralled.
:emoji_relaxed:~ Me too! I loved it from the first time I saw as a kid & Labyrinth totally blew me away.:emoji_grimacing:

"Well you may not see me when you come back
I could be sharing someone else's pillow
And my love for you is better than diamonds
To you everything I bestow"

I saw this movie so many times. Its also the movie that started my whole Bowie obsession thing.
This movie has childlike fantasy, but it also has so many sexual undertones. I think thats why it wasn't a succes when it came out, a lot of people might have been a bit confused by it. You have singing muppets, but then there is also Bowie in his tight pants playing with his riding crop and balls :)

“Labyrinth 2” Script Done Says Director

“The Dark Crystal” isn’t the only Jim Henson 1980s classic that’s getting a follow-up. Last year came word that filmmaker Fede Alvarez, who helmed the acclaimed horror “Don’t Breathe,” had become attached to a sequel to the 1986 fantasy classic “Labyrinth”.

Out this week doing press for his new film “The Girl in the Spider’s Web,” Alvarez confirms to Fandango (via Slashfilm) that the long-gestating project is coming together and a script is completed with the project still very much alive:

“I was actually having lunch yesterday with Lisa Henson and we reconnected with that project. We’re very excited about it. It is basically a direct continuation of the first movie many years later, and I can’t tell you much more about it… but we have a script, and we’re very excited about it so we’ll see where that goes. Like always, it takes time and effort to put those movies together because they’re larger than life. But that’s one of the projects that I’m very excited about.”

The story will reportedly follow the now-adult version of Jennifer Connelly’s Sarah character years after her first encounter with Jareth the Goblin King (David Bowie) in the original which Jim Henson helmed. Henson’s 1982 film “The Dark Crystal” will be getting a follow-up TV series called “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance” for Netflix.

Fede Alvarez offered clarification on recent reports that the script for a sequel to Jim Henson’s 1986 fantasy classic “Labyrinth” was complete, one he co-wrote with Jay Basu. While it’s true that a draft is done, the process still has a long way to go:
“I never said the script is complete. I never believe the script is actually complete. We do have a first version of it, we have a first version that I think is amazing. I’m sure we’ve gotta write more because that’s the way we do with Jay [Basu]. We’re gonna keep writing until we believe that it’s a perfect script. We’re gonna try to get there because that’s one that has such a beloved fanbase, me included in it, that I would never do anything that’s far from perfect. Or at least I’m gonna try to aim there.
It will take some time because that’s not something you rush. It’s been enough years that I think no one should rush that one. We’re gonna try and get it right… we had what I thought was this great idea to continue that story and jump so many years later and pick up that story now. We got really excited about that and we started collaborating with the Henson’s, with Jim Henson’s daughter.”
