Netflix Cancels “Gypsy” After One Season

In a surprising move for Netflix, the streaming giant has cancelled its Naomi Watts-led psychological thriller series “Gypsy” after just one season.

Deadline reports that Netflix had been in conversations with the producers about a second season and the cancellation decision comes after a writers room had been up and running for a month with work on storylines and scripts already underway.

Lisa Rubin penned the project which marked Watts’ first starring TV series role, but the show scored only mixed reviews when it debuted on June 30th. Watts played a Manhattan therapist who begins to develop intimate and illicit relationships with the people in her patients’ lives. Billy Crudup, Sophie Cookson, Lucy Boynton and Karl Glusman co-starred.

The cancellation comes a day after Netflix renewed its well-received women’s wrestling comedy series “GLOW” for a second season. Other 2017 dramas that debuted like the critically slammed “Iron Fist” and the controversial “13 Reasons Why” were also both renewed.

I watched the entire 1st season & found it very entertaining, I am sorry it has been canceled.
Watts was good, she was the main character & carried the whole show, being in every scene.
Another thought provoking drama canceled...
