Darkest Hour is an upcoming British historical war drama film directed by Joe Wright. The film stars Gary Oldman, Ben Mendelsohn, and John Hurt, in his final performance. It is scheduled to be released on 24 November 2017.

Winston Churchill faces a crucial moment against Adolf Hitler's army in the beginning of the Second World War.

Focus Features has premiered the first trailer and poster for “Atonement” and “Hanna” director Joe Wright’s “Darkest Hour” which stars Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill.

Set on the eve of World War II, just days after Churchill became the U.K. Prime Minister, he faces one of his most turbulent and defining trials: exploring a negotiated peace treaty with Nazi Germany, or standing firm to fight for the ideals, liberty and freedom of a nation.

As the unstoppable Nazi forces roll across Western Europe and the threat of invasion is imminent, a public unprepared and his own party plotting against him, Churchill must rally a nation and attempt to change the course of world history.

Kristin Scott Thomas, Lily James, Stephen Dillane, Ronald Pickup, and Ben Mendelsohn also star in the film which was penned by Anthony McCarten. It opens November 22nd.

Second Trailer: Oldman In “Darkest Hour”





Focus Features has premiered the new second trailer for the Gary Oldman-led “Darkest Hour”.

Joe Wright helms the true story set on the eve of World War II as, within days of becoming Prime Minister of Great Britain, Winston Churchill (Oldman) must face one of his most turbulent and defining trials: exploring a negotiated peace treaty with Nazi Germany, or standing firm to fight for the ideals, liberty and freedom of a nation.

With the threat of invasion is imminent and his own party plotting against him, Churchill must withstand his darkest hour, rally a nation, and attempt to change the course of world history.

Kristin Scott Thomas, Lily James, Stephen Dillane, Ronald Pickup, and Ben Mendelsohn co-star. Anthony McCarten penned the script for the project and will produce alongside Lisa Bruce, Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Douglas Urbanski.

“Darkest Hour” opens domestically in select cities on November 22nd 2017.
