This film seems to have more or less come and gone, flopping at the box office, but - having gone in expecting a rather shallow comedy - it proved - as it went along - to gradually have more depth and worth than I expected.
At one point, while watching it, I started making comparisons to the 1967 Boris Karloff film, The Sorcerors and - while it is in no way as dark as that film was - it does, at least, address the darker side of human nature, when a person realises that they have power that they have never had before - and becomes a commentary upon how they choose to use it.
In some ways it was a shame that this film flopped, but the film-makers should be proud of their work - and at least it frees us of the curse of the unnecessary sequel. This film really doesn't need it.
