Riley, Hernandez Joins “Bloodshot” Cast
Talulah Riley (“Westworld”) and Alex Hernandez (“Unreal”) have joined the cast of the Vin Diesel-led “Bloodshot,” the upcoming film adaptation of the Valiant Entertainment comic at Sony Pictures.
The story follows a mortally wounded soldier resurrected with cutting-edge nanotechnology and tasked with rounding up super powered outcasts called ‘Harbingers’. The plan is for a five-film shared universe based on the comics.
Riley will play Bloodshot’s wife Gina, while Hernandez will play the scientist Tibbs who is partly responsible for Bloodshot’s nanite technology. They join Sam Heughan, Eiza Gonzalez and Michael Sheen who also co-star in the film which begins shooting in July.
Neal Moritz and Dinesh Shamdasani will produce while Dave Wilson directs.
Vin Diesel Is Set For “Bloodshot” At Sony
Vin Diesel has closed a deal to star in the film adaptation of the Valiant sci-fi/action comic book series “Bloodshot” at Sony Pictures.
Said to boast a tone akin to the 1980s action films of Paul Verhoeven and James Cameron, Diesel would play Ray Garrison, a soldier brought back to life through the use of nanotechnology and suffering from total memory loss.
Ray struggles to reconnect with who he was while learning what sort of weapon he has become, with the help of a group of other augmented combatants (called Chainsaw). The project aims to begin shooting in July and plans to be the first of a potential franchise.
Dave Wilson, who co-runs VFX house Blur Studios with “Deadpool” director Tim Miller, will make his feature directing debut with the script by Eric Heisserer (“Arrival,” “Lights Out”). Wilson has previously directed the cinematics and trailers of many acclaimed video games including “Mass Effect 2,” “Bioshock Infinite” and “The Division”.
