Common Leads Starz’s “Black Samurai” Series
Following his several season turn on AMC’s “Hell on Wheels,” actor and rapper Common is returning to TV to play the lead role in the new Starz series “Black Samurai”.
Common will play Robert Sand, a highly-trained American Army Ranger whose life is transformed when he meets a legendary Japanese master who invites him to train as a samurai.
After his beloved sensei and samurai brothers are killed by mercenaries, Sand is thrust on a worldwide journey of both revenge and self-discovery.
Common, Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA, Andre Gaines and Jerry Bruckheimer are executive producing the show while showrunners Cormac and Marianne Wibberley are writing the pilot script based on Marc Olden’s novel.
