Angels with Dirty Faces has been adapted by means of two radio plays.

The first was on the May 22, 1939, broadcast of Lux Radio Theater, with Cagney and O'Brien reprising their film roles; while the second was on the September 19, 1941, broadcast of the Philip Morris Playhouse, starring Sylvia Sidney

Pat O Brien's priest asked gangster, Rocky Sullivan, to fake cowardice when going to the electric chair, so that the street kids who idolised him wouldn't follow in his footsteps.

He flatly refused.

Then went to the chair screaming for mercy anyway.

Did he have a change of heart?

Or did Rocky Sullivan die a coward?

Coward or not, I think Cagney was brilliant in this scene! Gets me every time!
