Julianne Moore Joins “Wedding” Remake


Julianne Moore has joined the cast of a reimagining of Susanne Bier’s Oscar-nominated Danish drama “After the Wedding”.

Bart Freundlich (“Wolves,” “The Myth of Fingerprints”) penned and directs this version which reimagines the two lead roles as women, creating a story of motherhood and family and shifting the setting to New York.

Joel Michaels and Silvio Muraglia will produce with filming to kick off this Spring. Mads Mikkelsen and Sidse Babett Knudsen starred in the 2007 original.

An English-language remake of “Bird Box” and “The Night Manager” director Susanne Bier’s 2006 film and still her most celebrated work to date, the new version stars actress Julianne Moore and Diane Kruger while Moore’s husband writer-director Bart Freundlich helms this new take which recasts the two lead roles as women in the story of a Calcutta orphanage director who heads to New York to meet her main benefactor – a millionaire (Moore) who is about to marry.
