    Review M*A*S*H (1972)

Ta gladly for the like, Chainsaw. Totally agree about Charles - he was initially a pompous Bostonian prat, redeemed by interesting plot developments. (Last one I saw repeated was Charles acting as Klinger's flunky to repay a timely rescue, finally shredding a pulp thriller in defiance of his...

    Review The Incredible Hulk (2008)

Thanks, Hux - interesting perspective. Maybe my memories of the TV Hulk's week by week adventures invested my ideas of the character in a different way: the Hulk was something (someone) that was happening to Banner - the duality was what was interesting.

@duzit Again, is this @ thingy even working? Streuth! OK maybe everyone else knew this already but i'm slightly stunned having checked the link you give me. Slightly more (52%) of entities viewing this site are non-human - computerised cyber-gubbins are actively checking out our deepest...

    Review The Incredible Hulk (2008)

Thanks, Doc. Is it me, or is it a bit odd that a character like Hulk should have had his own very-much loved series way back when, but is a bit relegated these days to yob-numpties like Iron Man now (who couldn't command their own pilot back in the day). PS "Back in the day" is a term I only...

@duzit Has that even worked? Supposed to connect with you, friend Duzit, in a more stylish way than just clicking on reply. Oh well YES - that dinky box on the right exactly. So glad it's not just me... I'll take a deep breath and check that link just as soon as I feel braver, then maybe we'll...

    Review The McGann Doctor

Big YES to that. And more than one... though I'd never, ever regret the Eccleston we got, he was reputedly so unhappy it's fantastic he was able to give it so much. I'm late to learning there's so much McGann Doctor to catch up on elsewhere, but what I remember of his film was HIM - certainly...

    Review The Incredible Hulk (2008)

Bixby/ Ferrigno combo were MY Hulk - the Hulk that gets you through A levels is the only Hulk that matters. (OK I'd read a few comics before then, but nothing since has nudged my personal radar).

And for you (if going this far off topic is allowed) how does the film compare with the telly series? PS - although you have quite possibly the most enigmatic user name of all time we might just have a Buffy-shaped conversation going on here and I can't call you Sow, so, how formal are we being...

Agreed - but for me it has the truly awful + really enjoyable combination. Of course I was a die-hard TV Buffy fan by then, so its less-than-the-TV qualities met me head on. In fact, I missed many early episodes of the telly version because I ignored a show with such a daft title - accidentally...

Thanks for that, I had no idea. (That'll learn Marvel to introduce interesting new characters behind my back).

    Review Doctor Strange (2016)

A she-captain? Honest, Hux, just asking for information here as that's not a comic I've ever read - will this be exciting for people looking out for more female-super-heroes? The market is not saturated.

    Review Doctor Strange (2016)

I stumped up my money for Doctor Strange based on pure curiosity after reading about the casting fuss-up featuring Ms Swinton. Why not have a Scottish guru channelling a not-allowed Tibetan guru teaching an English actor pretending to be a Yank? Did it occur to anyone else that her aside, it'd...

    Review M*A*S*H (1972)

And I will always love the fact that, while it was always such a well-balanced ensemble show, in Hotlips it had a hugely under-praised leading lady from beginning to end. Lots of regular nurses, occasional girlfriends and (I think) the odd nun passing through, but - although I know it's a bit of...

    Review London After Midnight (1927)

Do you remember the episode of Whitechapel devoted to it? Quite spooky in itself - I know that production values can look very dated in older stuff - but I showed some clips of the original (silent) Nosferatu and Dr Caligari to some students the other week - no sniggers at all - some murmuring...
