Review Tonight! "Twin Peaks" S02E02 "Coma"

Okay, Audrey, repeat after me, “I’m at One-Eyed Jacks. I’m at One-Eyed Jacks.” That’s all you had to say and then Cooper would have descended on the place with his entourage to rescue you – foreign territory, be damned. But no, you waste time complimenting how he looked in his tuxedo and...

    Review Twin Peaks (1990)

I would be less than honest if I didn't admit this show has been a disappointment. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about, but so far even the early episodes have been underwhelming. I doubt the final failed season ones will be much better. Nevertheless, I've already wasted...I mean...

Review Tonight! "Twin Peaks" S02E01 "May The Giant Man Be With You"

OK, this show has done a real number on us. It had 30 episodes to just barely keep in within our limit, but now we find that two of them were double-length episodes. Hope the finale isn’t a double-length job as well. I noticed the theme featured lots of new names as regulars, including those...

Am away temporarily. Will respond to both threads on my return.

Review Tonight! "Twin Peaks" S01E08 "The Last Evening"

Well, the easiest cliffhanger to resolve this week – Room service will not be getting a tip from Agent Cooper. A couple of mysteries were solved, others were left as cliffhangers. I give credit that the show moved along steady this week, no scenes where nothing was going on. But on the...

Review Tonight! "Twin Peaks" S01E07 "Realization Time"

I was going by the fact she got off the phone so quickly with very little reaction, except to say "I'm fine." I figured if she had just heard she was pregnant, she would be asking questions. But I played it back again and now I'm not so sure. She is out in the open there and might not have...

Review Tonight! "Twin Peaks" S01E07 "Realization Time"

I think it’s safe to assume at this point that we’re not going to find out who killed Laura Palmer by the end of the season (which is next week). It’s looking more like we’re in for the long haul on that mystery. Cooper handled the “Audrey ‘s in my bed” situation with skill and tact. He even...

Review Tonight! "Twin Peaks" S01E06 "Cooper's Dreams"

Forgot to ID the bogus credit last week. That was Sean Davis as Joe 90, who was in a few episodes of THE MIDDLEMAN, though for the life of me I can't remember what his character did. This week's prior series nod is Sean Maher as Dr. Simon Tam from FIREFLY, which was before my entry into the...

Review Tonight! "Twin Peaks" S01E06 "Cooper's Dreams"

In fact, strangely Cooper immediately said it must be Jacques Renault's blood and then the doc got a phone call confirming that AB neg was indeed Jacques' type. AB negative is supposed to be the rarest blood type, but Leo or someone else could still have it. The guy Leo put in the shallow grave...

Review Tonight! "Twin Peaks" S01E06 "Cooper's Dreams"

I couldn’t really get very enthused about this week’s episode. I’ll just focus on some of the more memorable events. Audrey became a truly disturbing character this week. She wasn’t exactly a paragon of virtue to begin with, of course. I’m not referring to when she threatened her new boss...

Review Tonight! "Twin Peaks" S01E05 "The One-Armed Man"

I had the subtitles on when I played it and it did say "Mom." I don't think it was supposed to be strange, but more to make him seem normal. It was an old cliché in cartoons and such for a tough guy to have "Mom" tattooed on his arm, to imply that under his tough exterior he still had a soft spot.

Review Tonight! "Twin Peaks" S01E05 "The One-Armed Man"

Oh come on, you know the TV trope. She expects you to know what's bugging her, and if you ask her what it is she gets even more annoyed at you.

Review Tonight! "Twin Peaks" S01E05 "The One-Armed Man"

We start off a little weird. Is Cooper really having Andy draw a figure that Sarah saw in a dream? But it is later explained that Cooper thought it might be the same figure from his dream and was trying to make sure. Sarah also reveals her dream about Laura’s necklace being dug up, which...

Review Tonight! "Twin Peaks" S01E04 "Rest In Pain"

Ah, the Palmer family reunion - Former Presidents David and Wayne from "24", Eldritch from "The Strain" and Veronica from "Better Off Ted" (the last one not a reference to a show the Sages have been to, but maybe one they will visit in the future.) Perhaps the most hilarious credit was Directed...

Review Tonight! "Twin Peaks" S01E04 "Rest In Pain"

The good news for this week is that Colonel Cooper – oops, I mean Special Agent Cooper – is acting more like a detective again. “Here, Audrey, write your name down for me. Aha – you are the Midnight Tipster!” Later, at the diner, he realizes that Ed has a thing for Norma - due to his body...

Review Tonight! "Twin Peaks" S01E03 "Zen, Or The Skill To Catch A Killer"

The sequel started a few weeks before we voted to do TWIN PEAKS. That was one of the reasons I voted for the original show.

Review Tonight! "Twin Peaks" S01E03 "Zen, Or The Skill To Catch A Killer"

Yes, perhaps I was a little unkind to this part of the show. I'm afraid I was affected by the new episodes airing on SHOWTIME. They started out with a long, long, long scene similar to the dream sequence, so that when I saw this on this original it seemed trite and hackneyed already, although...

Review Tonight! "Twin Peaks" S01E03 "Zen, Or The Skill To Catch A Killer"

Okay, I don’t think I’m really getting into this like I should. David Lynch was directing again and the music was a little more prevalent, though a lot of it was familiar already. (I’m not counting Pennsylvania 6-5000, which was flat out weird to use.) But it didn’t help much. The most...

Review Tonight! "Twin Peaks" S01E02 "Traces To Nowhere"

Okay, I have a great reason for being late this week – as madp hinted, I’ve been on vacation. My wife and I traveled from Florida to Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, New York, Massachusetts and lots of states in between. It was a marvelous experience. We had watched the pilot prior to leaving on the...

Review Tonight! "Twin Peaks" S01E02 "Traces To Nowhere"

I am having technical difficulties this week, which I will explain later. My post will be quite late this week; hopefully I'll be back on schedule by the next episode. Thanks for your patience.
