Review Monty Python's Flying Circus (1969)

@Janine The Barefoot A Møøse once bit my sister... No realli! She was Karving her initials on the møøse with the sharpened end of an interspace tøøthbrush given her by Svenge - her brother-in-law - an Oslo dentist and star of many Norwegian møvies: "The Høt Hands of an Oslo Dentist", "Fillings...

Fun The Last Movie That You Watched?

Respect your initiative in trying something here, Mustang. (Checked your profile, guess I won't be calling you Sally...) Trouble is (for me) there isn't a thread for Men and Film to match. Women are like men - but without the penises (apologies to my pre-op transgender sisters of course) - it's...

    Review Harold and Maude (1971)

Totally - don't know where you are on the planet, Elliot - I'd love to ask some American members how famous Cat was over there back then. Maybe it's one reason the film feels so cosy - the story is bizarre, but the music is totally familiar. (Just realised that would also be true of The Exorcist...

    Review The Birds (1963)

Now that's one I haven't read - so decisions, decisions, the old film that even the director didn't like, or the recent TV series that was apparently inaudible - hmmm. Maybe I'll have a massive catch-up of Poldark before I decide - sorry Cornwall, other counties are available. (In fact, just...

    Review The Birds (1963)

I know her part of Cornwall quite well (once had to take a boat across the bay to Fowey (her home town for a while) to buy sausages - I always thought it was amazing that the same person wrote the Birds and Rebecca - then was totally gobsmacked to learn she'd written Don't Look Now as well.

    Review The Birds (1963)

Another blood-curdling Hitchcock masterpiece I clearly saw far too young. For years (having never dared to see it again) I thought it was in black and white because we had a b-&-w TV. Same with Marnie. The black and white thing turned out to be true of Psycho though. I think the scariness of...

    Review Harold and Maude (1971)

Massively fond of this film - first saw it when I was closer in age to Harold... now I'm not so sure... I love her putting her engagement ring in a safe place, I love the song, I love the sculptor and her nude scene, I love it all. It's one of those proper classics that must never be re-made...

Fun What TV Shows Are You Watching/Rewatching at the Moment?

We all have amazingly good taste! My best friend sings Dick Turpin with her daughter as their personal favourite, too. When the young'un is just a little bit older I shall dare said friend to tell her about what the two of us got up to at the Adam and the Ants gig in Leeds many moons ago...

I spotted your Test 2 down the new posts list but not yet your original - on the other hand, I ballsed up starting a new thread earlier this evening then realised I had no idea how to move it and needed an expert bail-out. Hope you fix your problem soon, but in the meantime I think you've...

    Review King Kong (1933)

@Doctor Omega Yes, thanks for the bonus information - the sequence on Jackson's film is hideously effective, but also does slow down the plot as the original makers realised. (1) Pure coincidence that a major cut from The Exorcist was Regan's "spider-walk"? (2) Total trivia by way of a thnk you...

    Review The Thick Of It

Big thank you Michael I just lost my Veep virginity! Though the clips you posted don't show any one individual worthy of the title Yankee Tuckerclone, it's a big step for American TV I believe. It was maybe the lack of justifiable swearing that put a slight damper on The West Wing, for all its...

Review Walt Disney's Education for Death (1943)

When I was a kid there were often holiday specials of "Disney Time" on TV - clips of the big cartoons, shorts and songs. All I ever knew about Song of the South for several of my formative decades was "Zippity Doo-Dah". Now I know it's not quite the full story, and now I know why the full thing...

Review Walt Disney's Education for Death (1943)

Evening, Drifter - it now occurs to me we don't have a clickable response for WTF, which might be useful here. I was in a happier bubble of BBC's Horrible Histories when yours showed up - talk about grim coincidences. I have never even heard of this before. :emoji_scream: Streuth!

Fun What TV Shows Are You Watching/Rewatching at the Moment?

Certainly it's in my top 5 but so many to chose from! I even like the Pilgrim Fathers' Rap - and I can;t stand rap... Shakespeare jazz, 4 Georges, Cleopatra and the RAF boyband are all up there for me too.

Fun What TV Shows Are You Watching/Rewatching at the Moment?

Pure comedy bliss in short, perfect episodes. Favourite songs, sketches, characters anyone? Give me a Viking power ballad, a Bobsy report and anything from Death and I am a very contented and giggling person, however often I've seen them before.

    Review Yonderland

So pretty much everything I also love about HH - bonkers, with attitude! OK a slight shortage of rat, but the weird and wonderful puppet characters make up for that. Still only seen series 1, so I'm hoping the quality (and bonkersness) hold up for the rest. Have you seen Bill?
