Haven't seen a thing except Hacksaw Ridge and La La Land. I'm so out of it this year. La La Land is probably going to take it all, though.

Anyone but not Emma Stone.
Don't got me wrong, she's good in LLL but her singing is subpar. I understand that the award is about acting not singing, but really, you'd give the Oscar to an actress that made you frown so much while watching her singing?

Honestly I didn't care much for winners this year. None of the nominations were terribly impressive for me, except Hacksaw ridge but I knew it wasn't the type to win.

The movies/animations/documentaries I've watched in this list are La La Land, Hacksaw Ridge, Fantastic Beasts, The Jungle Book. La La Land is the least I like in the lot. Seriously, has the standard of music and choreography in musical dropped that low? City of Stars only avails to people because it's easy to sing, you don't even need a nice voice: just listen to how the 2 leads sang it :emoji_dizzy_face:

Now that the dust has settled....

Who was really at fault?

Best picture presenter Warren Beatty explained backstage after the history-making mistake that briefly awarded "La La Land" the honor instead of rightful winner "Moonlight" onstage. "I looked down at the card and thought, 'This is very strange, because it says best actress.' Maybe there was a misprint. I don't know what happened. And that's all I have to say on the subject." said Warren Beatty.

Warren Beatty threw Dunaway under the bus. He read the thing, realised it wasn't right then thought... fuck it... she can read it. :emoji_laughing:

After all these years, still the bad boy treating women like shit.

It was an utter cock-up though. Truly humiliating.

After seeing that I can't blame the two on stage allthough they could've read the envelope title and probably prevented this from happening.

I do blame the ones that gave them the envelope as, in my opinion, the last one that holds it before it goes to the ones that will read it should check the title as it clearly said something different.

It was really bad to see that happen and especially after seeing the doubt on both of their faces before blatantly shouting out the name, wich was obviously wrong. Then seeing some frustrated people running back and forth, wich led to the reveal of Moonlight winning.

Almost felt like it was done on purpose to take away the magic from Moonlight winning. They deserved it way more than La La Land, but that's just my opinion.

Without a script & a Director, actors cannot think for themselves. Their skills include being able to follow a script with a Director telling them how to feel while following said script. That's what they get the big bucks for...

Warners Plans “Wonder Woman” Awards Run

Warner Bros. Pictures have reportedly had internal discussions about launching a major, costly and “formidable” awards-season campaign for Patty Jenkins’ “Wonder Woman” according to Variety.

The studio is also going after honors for Jenkins herself as director. If they succeed on both fronts, it would make the movie the first comic-book film nominated for best picture and Jenkins both the first female director nominated since 2010 and the first director (male or female) nominated for a comic book movie.

The Oscars famously snubbed Christopher Nolan’s”The Dark Knight” in 2008, and has in many ways been trying to make up for it ever since. “Wonder Woman” is one of the few superhero films that has come along that has a chance to break through.

It certainly is of those rare birds in that not only has it been a box-office hit with $781 million worldwide, it has also been a critical darling. Then there’s the period setting and standalone nature which offer it advantages for consideration that other films in the MCU and DCEU don’t by their very nature of being sequels and chapters of a larger whole.

Thing is there’s another potential candidate for these honors this year that fits similar criteria – “Logan”. Fox may well go after noms for that film, especially for its main trio of actors and Jackman in particular for his overall body of work in the role, but no word as yet if that studio intends to do so.
