What are your favourite books, short stories, poems and film adaptions of Mister Poe's work?

The first literature I read, other than comic books, was Poe. He is still my favorite author of all time. THE TELL-TALE HEART and THE CASK OF AMONTILLADO are ones that I read very young, and still chill me. THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER terrifies me, not only because of the idea of premature burial (which Poe was obsessed with), but because after reading it in my youth, I saw the Vincent Price film, and it scared the bejesus out of me. Obviously, you can't talk about his poetry with out talking about THE RAVEN, because it is a gothic classic. But I actually rank ANNABELLE LEE and THE HAUNTED MANSION higher on my list of favorites, and the THE BELLS after THE RAVEN. I also really love his Dupin stories, and wish we could get a decent film version of them, or at least a film using them as vignettes.

Netflix is airing "Extraordinary Tales" a collection of Poe ' s most popular stories. It's very well done with animation. The animation keeps your interest in the action.
As CM1, I read Poe in my younger years, around my middle teens. I was so taken by the macabre of
his writings. I was a Goth wayyyyyyyyy b4 it was a fashion trend.

I thought it was wonderfully done. Yes, the animation is quite good. Not worthy of the bad reviews I had read.

I had not read any reviews, even if I had read reviews and they were bad, I would still have watched it
because of the Poe material. It's really quite entertaining.

I think it is very different to find a Hollywood movie adaption that is faithful to his works, so the "Extraordinary Tales" sounds interesting.

I watched and liked most of the Roger Corman flicks etc when I was a kid, but I also had this album by the Alan Parsons project, originally released in 1976 then re-released in 1987, with added narration by Orson Welles that had been recorded in 1976, but had been left off the original album.....

Yes, it is the whole recording. It was the first album ever released by The Alan Parson Project, who got a namecheck in Austin Powers of all things!

I grew up a big fan of Poe. The Tell-Tale Heart, of course. The Cask of Amontillado. The Black Cat. The Gold-Bug. Many others. In college I memorized the entire poem The Raven. Mostly b/c I liked it so much and it was a challenge, but also to show off at parties, LOL.

Last year I read a short story "I Am Become Poe" by Kevin Quigley. Wonderfully funny and clever with hints of the Macabre. If you are a fan of Poe, you would love this story.
